I could see them being successful with axes...for 24 hours. Then, the public being alerted, their fortunes would decline.
The Mexicans pulled this before, after the grito de San Diego about 1915 ..... bands of Mexican-Americans and Mexicans roamed the Rio Grande Valley, murdering white Texas farmers with tools or whatever was at hand. The idea was to "roll back" the white presence right out of South Texas.
The Mexican racists have been crying "foul" and "they done us wrong" ever since the Texas Rangers showed up and organized the farmers, then went looking for the troublemakers. For years, if a Mexican even looked funny at a white person, he could get killed -- so I guess the "tension" persisted for a while.
