Daley: Send gun industry lawsuit to World Court (frightening)

Six years after the state Supreme Court dismissed his $433 million lawsuit against the gun industry, Mayor Daley today called for a change of venue — to the World Court normally reserved for disputes between nations and crimes against humanity.

Wrapping up the sixth annual Richard J. Daley Global Cities Forum, Daley convinced more than a dozen of his counterparts from around the world to approve a resolution urging "redress against the gun industry through the courts of the world" in The Hague.

"This is coming from international mayors. They're saying, 'We’re tired of your guns, America. ... We don't want those anymore because guns kill and injure people,' " Daley told a news conference at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

What jurisdiction would a so called World Court have over an American company? Can they impose fines? Doesn’t seem like they really can do much, we didn’t vote for them or allow our elected officials to appoint them did we?

"The U.S. government says, 'We cannot do a lot of things to stop this,'" Casauban said. "We should take actions with legal effects in order to stop this trade between the United States and Mexico."

We need to take a case to the world court to sue Mexico for all of the illegal drugs coming into our country from theirs. They are not doing enough!! Sue Mexico!!

"What jurisdiction would a so called World Court have over an American company?"

Right now, not much, at least not with respect to their American holdings. BUT, if we were to lose just one Supreme Court justice, that could ALL change.

There is a large and well-organized movement in liberal legal circles to get American courts to take more notice of international judicial decisions. Some want those opinions to be persuasive opinions, others on the far left want them in some circumstances to be binding opinions. This, of course, would be antithetical to every principle of American law since the countries inception.

When conservatives sit out elections, these are the consequences. Nothing matters more in a presidential election than the President's authority to nominate people to the federal bench, and especially the Supreme Court. The American way of life as we know it, rests with the health of 5 men.

See problem solved.

“...In this article, the Mayor of Philadelphia,...”

There’s a REASON the mayor’s name is “Nutter”.

I just call him “A**hole”, though...

“This man doesnt agree with American laws and seeks to have foreign courts decide an American case, and they call Tea Partiers UnAmerican.

He should be run out of America on a rail.”

People like this have UTTER and COMPLETE CONTEMPT for the Soverignty of Nations, but they have complete and total LOVE for the World Government type organisations.

Speaking of builing walls...how about one on the WI/IL border. That would suit me fine. IL can keep their corruption crime and tollbooths.

What jurisdiction would a so called World Court have over an American company?

They could do absolutely ANYTHING they want, the question is what would Zer0 allow them to do.

If Americans won't get protection by the US Government from foreign entities for lawful activities inside US borders, they are helpless.

Zer0 could order the IRS to seize all assets of the companies, they will act immediately and the redress is through federal court that may be as leftist as Zer0. Remember SCOTUS is 4-4-1. Same applies for federal protection of foreign police operating in the US. Impeachable only after the fact, with a Rat majority in both houses, rots of ruck.

Thank you for enlightening me on that subject. I am afraid for our nation and have resigned myself to hold off too much hope for a peaceful retirement...but, there is still some hope we can overthrow the left, but is must be more than congress and the white house. Has to be judicial, education, unions, etc.

NO standing

No controlling authority

Not a US court.

Not intelligent.

He is precluded by law to negotiate with foreign powers

The U.S. has no agreement with the world court.

dumbass.

The "World Court" doesn't have jurisdiction here. The minute we cede that position, we're screwed. The agenda driven left will use the "World Court" to destroy our country. Give them "the finger". Missiles to follow if they don't get the hint.

Why do major cities get the worst leadership sometimes?

Because cities attract and nurture the dregs of society. Those bottom feeders vote. They vote for politicians who will use the power of taxation to keep them comfortably situated on government largess.
