I stopped dipping my fingers in the Holy Water font at the entrance to churches years ago.
^^^
As careful as I am, I had not really thought of that one until someone mentioned it here on FR some months back. Now, I don’t do the Holy Water on the way in, but I do use it on the way out. And I always wash my hands first thing when I get home, a habit I learned from my dear mother.
I worked in a NICU for many years. Our medical director was quite a taskmaster, and before 1980 one of her rules was to have an alcohol-based hand cleaner at every baby’s bedside. Handwashing between babies was the norm, but the gel cleaner was for use before touching a baby, just in case one’s hands had touched something after the last handwashing.
I have been very sensitive to where people put their hands ever since, especially when I am in a hospital. And yes the habit of washing my hands as soon as I come home from anywhere is routine.

horrible and evil - didn't say that...you are projecting again
Forgive my interpreting "making deal with scum" as your thinking he was horrible. I think people who "make deals with scum" are bad people. I just assumed you did too. My error.
But to the point. The only thing here that's "silly" is your first post, entirely irrelevant, a gratuitous, nonsensical, unnecessary slap.
What you fail to realize, eleni, is that while I may be the only one posting a response to your hostile, off topic posts, I'm certainly not the only one who wonders why you have some sort of compulsion to express your intense distaste for honorable George Bush on threads where it only makes you look, well, silly.
I am not here to "defend" any particular decision President Bush made because it is completely off topic.
I will simply state, as I have a hundred times before, that I do not need to agree with every decision a person makes (especially a President), to respect him. I respected Ronald Reagan, and his record on immigration was abysmal. I respectfully disagreed with them both. As for the recent immigration debate, I wanted the borders shut down after 9/11 and all people from ME countries deported and made to re-enter with stricter standards of entry. That doesn't make me conclude that a courageous man was "spineless" because he didn't do what I thought best......because it makes absolutely no sense to do that.
I have no doubt that if there were an FR in 1988, I would be here defending the honor and courage of Ronald Reagan, and you would be calling me 'silly,' and would be calling him my 'boy.'
btw, I agreed with the Dubai port deal, and I admire the President's selection of John Roberts and Sam Alito.
He's a good man. A courageous man. An honorable man.
And no random spitballs you throw at him on FR will change that fact.
People have gotten very lax about germs. In my mother’s generation — she was born in 1912 — people were much more careful. They had seen epidemics. I think that people nowadays have the attitude that a trip to the doctor and a dose of antibiotics will fix anything. Unfortunately, it will take a bad epidemic to improve views toward proper hygeine.
hygeine = hygiene
Thank you very much for the links to those awesome videos! :)
tax-cutting? ———grew the federal government in size and power to highest levels
championed states’ rights? -—— centralized more power in Washington.
proponent of race-neutral policies? -—— did more than any president before him to measure, track, and invest in the achievement of black and Latino children. So much for race neutral.
lover of freedom? ——— toppled one dictator while propping up others.
humanitarian? ———— spent unprecedented sums - our treasure - to save millions from disease on another continent.
weak on our borders - weak on his appointments -— weak on energy independence ——weak on almost all conservative principles.
You can have him...he has been a disaster for conservatives.
OK. This across the board, decades long conservative will take him.
You can have your hostility and anger. I'll take my anger and aim it at Marxists, perverts, statists, Maoists, criminals, tax cheats, and thugs.
As they say, to each his own. You've made your choice as to whom to demonize and attack. I've made mine. You chose the good guy. I choose the evil ones.
As we prayed every day.
