Former President Bill Clinton enthusiastically weighed into the blistering national debate on immigration today with a resounding assertion that America needs more immigrants -- not fewer -- to ensure its long-term fiscal future.
At a symposium on deficit reduction today (see my earlier story), Clinton said that one key to avoiding massive debt is to maintain a good ratio between people paying into the system, and those receiving payouts (through such programs as Social Security.)
That means more jobs and more people working, he said. "Which to me means more immigrants."

Note that he never says, "maybe more Americans should have bigger families, and maybe we should figure out how to make that affordable".

This is going to be maga flame-bait, especially because it’s Clinton, but I sort of agree with him in that there is absolutely nothing wrong with legal immigration and it is quite healthy for a country.
This issue is enforcing laws, not stopping immigration.

Where we differ is on the immigrants, we need rich immigrants and not poor ones.
Mexico would kill to have to ability to attract wealthy immigrants like we could.
Instead, Bill will have us chase away the rich tax payers and attract poor free loaders.
So what Clinton’s saying is that the baby boomers need a vast underclass of non-goody-receiving taxpayers to fund their outrageous expectations. Sounds about right.
