Yes, but Catholics on this site like to have it both ways. On the one hand, they like to say that only the devoutly Church going and orthodox are truly Catholic. On the other, they are always quoting stats about their being "a billion Catholics" and one third of the US being "Catholic."

In truth, "true hard core believing Catholics" are a MINORITY of those who call themselves Catholic worldwide. My future country-in-law of Brazil is supposedly the most Catholic nation on earth by population. I can tell you first hand, however, that the number of "true, orthodox practitioners and believers" is, at best 10-15% of the population, most Brazucas being cafeteria Catholics (just like most "Catholics" here in the northeast).

First, there is a significant difference between declaring oneself a Catholic and actually being a Catholic.

When does the Catholic church stop counting them as a part of the total number of Catholics?

"Huh? what about Hebrews 13:17?"

What about Hebrews? Can you substantiate this requirement anywhere in the Synoptic Gospels? Catholics are under no obligation to obey or be subservient to anyone other than God.

To obey (from the Latin ob-audire, to "hear or listen to") in faith is to submit freely to the word that has been heard, because its truth is guaranteed by God, who is Truth itself. Abraham is the model of such obedience offered us by Sacred Scripture. The Virgin Mary is its most perfect embodiment.

What happened to the belief that all scripture is God breathed?

"In truth, "true hard core believing Catholics" are a MINORITY of those who call themselves Catholic worldwide."

Can you cite a source substantiating that or is that just an opinion. Are you also basing that on a snap shot view of each Catholic based upon a single day or moment in his/her life? Are you considering Catholics who deviate during their younger years and then return to the Church? I think there are too many variables for you to make that statement, but I will say that what ever the count, observant Catholics are still the largest Christian denomination world wide by a long shot.

"Yes, but Catholics ..."

My point is that you cannot lump all who proclaim them selves to be Catholic into the same generalization as those who live their faith.

IN any event, what difference does it make that on any given day there may be only 700 million of the 1.4 billion Catholics actually living their faiths. That number still overshadows all other Christian denominations combined.

We must obey God rather than men" (Acts 5:29).

I agree.

All scripture is from God.

"I agree."

The sad thing about these forums is that we seem to spend 90% of the time arguing about the 10% of the scriptural interpretation we disagree on. I brings me joy when we can agree to agree.

But the University of Notre Dame is a Catholic University, run by the Catholic Church is it not?

Nope, it's run by their board. They're basically Catholic-in-name-only.

So when those authorities agitate, sympathize, and toil for the Democrat Party, then they are working for the enemy, are they not?

Certainly, not all of them. Their stance on immigration is not dogma, and Catholics certainly can disagree with them.

Then obviously the Congregation of Catholic Education in Rome should protect more forcefully it’s “CATHOLIC” brand.

No brand has been more valuable.

A brand that for hundreds of years many have died and suffered rather than denounce.

Individual Catholics are not the issue..mainly because it is their leaders, those with influence and power, who set the tone, conduct pressers, and thru press releases allow the MSM to use the Catholic brand.
