Texas Gov: Arizona Immigration Law 'Not Right' for Texas [Perry: AZ Law "Not In Right Direction"]

April 29, 2010 Texas Gov: Arizona Immigration Law 'Not Right' for Texas Associated Press Gov. Rick Perry said in a statement: "I have concerns with portions of the law passed in Arizona and believe it would not be the right direction for Texas."

AUSTIN, Texas -- Arizona's tough new illegal immigration enforcement law would not be right for Texas, Gov. Rick Perry said Thursday, upholding the state's long-held tradition of rejecting harsh anti-immigrant policies.

The Arizona law will require local and state law enforcement officers to question people about their immigration status if there's reason to suspect they're in the country illegally, making it a crime for them to lack registration documents. The law also makes it a state crime to be in the U.S. illegally.

"I fully recognize and support a state's right and obligation to protect its citizens, but I have concerns with portions of the law passed in Arizona and believe it would not be the right direction for Texas," Perry said in a written statement.

Easy to say now that he’s past the primary.

I still have hopes that White will knock him out for at least one term.

“.....the state’s history of rejecting harsh anti-immigrant policies.”

What the hell is wrong with FOX news? These are NOT immigrants, these are criminal invaders!

And now that Perry has been re-elected, he’s reverted back to being a RINO jackass. Good luck, Texas....your governor just announced his unwillingness to stop the invasion of your state. So much for moving to Texas...

Well, today he bragged on Joe Paggs’ show (WOAI-San Antonio 1200) that getting the unmanned drones on the border was the way to fix the problem, that he’d been hammering and gnawing on the feds and finally got his way.

Drudge: SEND IN THE DRONES: PREDATORS TO FLY ABOVE TEX-MEX BORDER!

Oops....my bad.....now that he’s got the NOMINATION, not been re-elected.

Any chance for an independent running for Texas governor?

Effectively stating he doesn’t have a problem with CURRENT illegals, it’s the FUTURE illegals that concern him.

He must be betting on amnesty.

Just d*mn! I really thought Texas would be the second in line to AZ with their own law. Well, maybe as soon as the AZ illegals start migrating east to Texas, they’ll think again.

Answer: Nothing. Regardless of what he says today, he's big on amnesty.

The main reason Texas has such a surplus of RINO politicians, is that democrats know it's almost impossible to be elected to state-wide office (I don't think there are any democrats that currently hold state-wide elective office.) So they pretend to be Pubs to get elected. Then they govern like your average dem.
