I’ve been reading and listening the last 24 about carbon exchange theory. So far, I believe that this is overwhelmingly about mega-money for the powerful few. The Cantwell-Collins bill removes any participation by the market in terms of trading emissions. It could be a step in the right direction for those believing in reducing emissions. I doubt it will get much traction competing with Senator Kerry’s C&T bill.

Also, folks should note that while Glenn has broadcast this scam to a wider audience, all of his points were raised by freelance writer Deborah Corey Barnes in October 2007. Please read her excellent article, “The Money and Connections Behind Al Gore’s Carbon Crusade” here:

Interview on Al Jazeera (not certain of date) with Daphne Wysham, a critic of the trading scheme and founder of the Sustainable Energy and Economy Network in Washington, Joseph Romm, an advocate of the “cap-and-trade” system who runs the influential policy blog, Climate Progress, in Washington, and Patrick Birley, the chief executive of the European Climate Exchange.

I would love to see these three grilled on a panel brought before a Senate Subcommittee!

I think Beck does a fine job of pointing us in the right direction and letting us discover things on our own. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of what we find shows up on his show.
