We were in eastern France recently, in the Battle of the Bulge area. Belgium too. We saw a number of women in long, black robes. Not fully veiled, but obviously Muslim. They were chaotic, too — kids screaming and fighting in the streets, etc. We were in small, rural towns there.
I think France has a serious problem; maybe they will have the next minaret ban.
Belgium has now banned the burqa and the niqab (full-faced veil).
I think the tide is turning on toleration of the Muslims.
