Water main break means 38 communities must boil their water to drink.
Love that dirty water...
alternatives to water ‘til they run out. :-)

Boston Globe: I posted just the links because I’m not sure if either of these are ok on FR.

Obama’s fault!
Link?
And here’s a kicker article on Concord, MA (Outside Boston)
http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/news/x1195009524/Concord-TM-bans-sale-of-water-in-plastic-bottles
~~CONCORD - Voters here banned the sale of drinking water in plastic bottles in town, as of next Jan. 1, during Town Meeting’s final session Thursday night.
“Selling water in plastic bottles is the triumph of perceived need over real need,” said Jean Hill, who drew up the measure.~~

Its mostly Ted Kennedy’s recycled scotch these days anyway.
Wow! A beautiful, warm Saturday night in Boston too...great night to sit outside at a cafe and indulge...wicked!
Well, what do you know. The law of unintended consequences.
How sweet it is!!!

I’m gonna tell you a story
I’m gonna tell you about my town
I’m gonna tell you a big bad story, baby
Aww, it’s all about my town
Yeah, down by the river
Down by the banks of the river Charles (aw, that’s what’s happenin’ baby)
That’s where you’ll find me
Along with lovers, fuggers, and thieves (aw, but they’re cool people)
Well I love that dirty water
Oh, Boston, you’re my home (oh, you’re the Number One place)
Frustrated women (I mean they’re frustrated)
Have to be in by twelve o’clock (oh, that’s a shame)
But I’m wishin’ and a-hopin, oh
That just once those doors weren’t locked (I like to save time for
my baby to walk around)
Well I love that dirty water
Oh, Boston, you’re my home (oh, yeah)
Because I love that dirty water
Oh, oh, Boston, you’re my home (oh, yeah)
Well, I love that dirty water (I love it, baby)
I love that dirty water (I love Baw-stun)
I love that dirty water (Have you heard about the Strangler?)
I love that dirty water (I’m the man, I’m the man)
I love that dirty water (Owww!)
I love that dirty water (Come on, come on)
Any idea on the age of that water main? There are plenty more incidents like this waiting to happen as our infrastucture ages out.
8 millions gallons a hour! At least it’s fresh water and not something more noxious.

It is obviously Bush’s fault!
It sucks to be her, right now.
Best, most concise drinking water disinfection document I’ve found:

You know that’s not too big of a deal; throw a couple of teabags in as your boiling it and have some hot tea.
That will be just easy to defeat in court. You can buy other brands of water, though it is colored water, in plastic and those were not included in the ban?
Nice try Concord. FAIL
Don’t worry, Teddy Kennedy will fix it.
Oh wait, he’s dead.
Along with lovers, muggers, and thieves.

Frustrated women!
Bump. Bump. Bump. Bump,bump,bump.
The Bruins just won in overtime so we in Boston are content for the moment! Savard had the winning goal.
I love when Miss Irony comes and bites liberals in the arse
Perry is a really rude person. It seems like dimwits are. They are always yelling and/or with a finger in someone’s face.
Here are my tips. Think in terms of layers and the Rule of Three (one is none, two is one).
Layer 1: refill 2-liter soda bottles and juice bottles with tap water. Label bottle, rotate once a year.
Layer 2: buy cases of water bottles for lightweight, totable clean water
Layer 3: acquire large water storage containers, e.g. 55 gallon drums. Fill with water, treat with bleach.
Have more than one way to purify water.
Layer 1: unscented bleach — rotate once a year
Layer 2: a WAPI (cost: $8, requires the ability to heat water to 149 degrees)
Layer 3: water purification tables
Another layer (hi-tech), the SteriPEN, which uses UV light to purify water in less than two minutes.
Sorry that’s John Kerry.
Wicked pissa goal too.
Guess some won’t be laughin as hard at ‘preppers’, now?
How much bad, bad, hurts the environment, bottled water bottles will be used?
Think they care when they are inconvenienced to ‘boiling’ water???
Instead of spending ten billion on Teddy’s memorial tunnel to nowhere they should have spend a couple of bucks on upgrading their water supply infrastrucure.
This week will probably have some interesting letters to the editor in the Boston papers; if they get published, that is.
LOL out loud.
The Conch Whores are at it again!
The Concord, MA bottle water ban story is from today - apparently printed hours before the water main broke that services 31 communities - Concord was just one town away from the boil water directive.
These environmentalists will leave you parched on the side of the road.
Miss Irony is sweet - the stars aligned today
I pick the wrong day to stop drinking beer.
LOL...clever.
I live on 5 acres; and consider that way too small an acreage. Thinking of selling it and moving to a larger parcel in the same area. We have a well and have several water tanks we fill and use from there; saves the well pump, and if there’s any problem with electricity, we have about 2500 gallon storage capacity. Or more. We have a generator and gas for the well pump if needed.
Our well water is sweet and pure but we have a Berkefeld purifier we got before we got this place. It’s worked for years. I would recommend one to anyone, you can put any crappy water in it and it takes care of pretty much anything. They now have various kinds of filters, IMO they work a lot longer than they claim. Initial expensce, and then tens of thousands of pure, good tasting drinking water that needs no water pressure or electricity or constantly changing filters.
You can work around a lot of things, but not water.
Just got done last week putting another 30 gallons drinking water in my shed. Thats in addition to the 50 or so I already had, and the 30 or so in my pantry.
I NEVER (well, almost never) throw out a good plastic container. They all get rinsed clean and filled with water and stored.
Except for milk containers. I could never find a good way to get rid of the punky milk smell/taste.
Hey I set that up...a clever hockey reference.
Meant to add - we got water storage tanks from farm supply stores, we don’t like the black ones, more toxic; green or white, for potable water. They need to be covered from light so algae won’t grow in them. We clean them out every now and then. One is (IIRC) 1200 gallons, one is 800, and then we have a couple of smaller ones that are easy to find around here that come with a metal frame and wood platform, around 175 to 250 gallons. They are made in Germany and used to hold juice, farm supply places often have them. They have spigots already.
We also have an 800 gallon stainless steel container that was used for cooling milk. Really a hassle because it’s so heavy even empty.
Mine always end up with algae after a few months.
The wars of this century won’t be fought over oil.. but clean water.
The milkfat and/or proteins bind with the plastic and they can never safely be used for drinking water. They could be washed with hot water and bleach and used for washing/toilet flushing water if needed, I’d add bleach for that as well.
