FRONT ROYAL, Virginia, May 3, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Population Research Institute (PRI) has just released the third video in its YouTube cartoon series, designed to refute the idea of overpopulation with science — and stick figures. Contrary to claims advanced by population control advocates, the latest video reveals data indicating that world hunger is not caused by a lack of food, but by wars, lack of transportation, and economic factors.
To date the series has garnered well over 200,000 views on YouTube, and has made PRI one of the more popular non-profit channels on the video channel.

Brazil has had two years of record corn and soy bean crops. They have run out of storage space. The main impediment to selling it abroad is transportation problems. The surplus is due to good weather and government price supports above the world prices. The price supports are to keep food cheap to calm urban poor and to keep farmers on land and out of cities which are over crowded.
Well they DID say “...wars, lack of transportation, and economic factors...”
That’s pretty much government in a nutshell, isn’t it?

A little perspective:
If you gathered up all of humanity, men, women and children, and had them stand in a crowd, packed in pretty tight, (4 sq ft / ea) they would fit within a 30 mile square.
Yeah, that’s a lot of people, but then again a 30 mile square, on this great big globe....
We humans really oughta get over ourselves.
thats about the size of my city. I often find it interesting when people come up with these comparisons. I know I did one a few years ago that if we took all the people in the us, brought them all to texas and gave each man woman and child a 50 by 100 lot with a house, it would fill half of texas, leaving the rest of the country uninhabited. The mind games the left uses to mess with the inner city tree huggers minds about over population, killing the planet and reducing the population is nuts. Problem is, cities ARE overcrowded and so its easy to sell that its like that everywhere, when you never go to say, Montana or Wyoming and see the miles upon miles of nothing but wilderness in flyover country.
A few important reasons the world has such abundance in food can be traced to a few things.
1) Norman Borlaug, the “father of the green revolution”, who passed away last year. What can be said of a person by whose actions more than a billion people, perhaps two or three billion, have not had to live lives of starvation?
2) The USDA. In the 1960s it was realized that the vast majority of the grain in the world was exported from just four countries, and that this had created a dangerous dependency of food production. So a major program was devised to create far more resilient and high yield crops, that could grow around the world.
3) The petroleum industry. Not just for fuel, petroleum is used to produce different fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides, as well as many synthetic materials such as plastics, that are very useful in agriculture.

I can't remember where but there were some stats saying that all the world's population could fit into Texas and still have enough room to live...but don't quote me on that.

When that ship the Maersk Alabama was taken by Somali pirates,
I thought the news reportage certainly un-derplayed one ironic factor.
The Somali pirates had taken a ship loaded with humanitarian supplies.
But I suppose the MSM sources didn’t want to hurt the Somali pirates
self-esteem by reporting that.
