You left out the Flats???
Cleveland did give the world Dennis Kucinich. I’m just sayin’. . .
Prior to GPS’s I had to go to Pittsburgh. I had to find about 20 different locations all over the area. Talk about a wasted trip.
I think I smell some blue-state prejudice here (with the exception of Utah), or at least Yankee bias.
Interesting there is NOT ONE CITY IN THE SOUTH, even though, by voting with their feet, Americans by a landslide are voting for: Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Charlotte, Memphis, etc....
I used to live in da Burgh for a good amount of time. I’ve since moved out west, and I can assure you I’ll take the Denver area any way. The weather is way better as is the taxes. The politics used to be better too until the Dems bought Colorado.
What place is Detroit?
Or any public school system, for that matter.
“You left out the Flats???”
The Flats are toast. Overrun by criminals, it’s kind of a ghost town now.
Title shoud be
Most Affordable Cities
as this is what they have in common.
“Cleveland did give the world Dennis Kucinich. Im just sayin. . .”
Good reason to knock them down... but the worst while Pittsburgh is the best? Is Kucinich enough... ? Nevermind.
Ok.
In the City proper, there are a couple of really good public schools (they call them academies) where the best students go. They actually have entrance exams at some of them. The rest are typical of urban schools anywhere, not very good.
The Catholic school system still functions quite well albeit much smaller than it used to be, but so is the school age population. There are also a number of private schools in the City which can be pricy.
Outside the City limits, (where more than 75% of the population lives) the public school systems tend to be very good or even excellent with some of the districts ranking among the best in the nation.
Over all, if you are interested in raising a family while having affordable housing, access to good schools, good medical facilities, cultural/entertainment and sporting events, Pittsburgh is a very good place to be.
I don't know if it is the best place, but it sure isn't a bad place to live. Nothing sexy mind you, just a livable family kind place without the hassles or expense of other 'big' cities.
You must be living in a pretty damn upscale house. I have a newer home (not a McMansion by any means) in a nice quiet suburb with a very good school district and my school taxes are about 20% of what you are paying.
Just stay away from Big Ben if you are a young lady.
Of course. FYI, it is an AmishDude original. At least, I'd never heard it before.
“...West is Steubenville...”
Excuse me - no mention of my hometown - WEIRTON, WV. I’m outraged...outraged, I say.
Sorry, I should have mentioned Weirdton. I just remember Steubenville as the home of Dean Martin. And East Liverpool as the home of the Beastles. Plumb forgot about Weirdton. Thanks for the reminder!
No, Pittsburgh is a fun town. My kids go to school there.
PITT is a great school. My oldest has graduated but cant get the nerve to leave Pittsburgh. Just a fun place to be, awesome in spring summer and fall. Beautiful Mountains. Golf. House prices are so cheap. Rent is cheap.
jagoffs ragging on the Burgh.
Trenton ... I met a guy who was pulled from his Lunch Catering truck in Trenton, and they sliced his neck open. He had a scar across his neck. He almost died. He said the “boys in the hood” used cell phones to organize their attack as he drove down the street. I also know a shmuck who used to buy his drugs in Trenton. Oxycontin?
So yes, Trenton is a surprise to me too. But maybe if you are the right race it could be good.
