British Politicians Seek the Obama Magic
WSJ Political Diary ^ | May 3, 2010 | John Fund

Televised debates between party leaders in Britain are over and the country will go to the polls this Thursday. Conservative David Cameron is a slight favorite to become the next prime minister, but if his choice of campaign advisers is any guide, Americans shouldn't expect anything like a second coming of Margaret Thatcher.

Mr. Cameron hired two high-priced veterans of the Obama campaign to help his effort: Anita Dunn and Bill Knapp. The move raised eyebrows since the Tories have traditionally imported seasoned GOP strategists to advise them.

In Ms. Dunn, they are getting something completely different, as Monty Python would put it. Last year, she was the White House communications director who declared war on Fox News and who gave a speech lauding Mao Zedong as one of her "favorite political philosophers." Her invocation of the Chinese dictator while serving in the White House didn't sit well with many Chinese scholars, who recalled Mao's role in the death of 50 million Chinese. Ms. Dunn later made a show of claiming her remarks had been ironic, but it didn't convince anyone who watched the tape.

In her new job, she now has been tasked with making Mr. Cameron believable to the British people. The Daily Mail reports that she has been put in charge of "de-poshing" the upper-class Mr. Cameron in the same way she sought to enhance the professorial Mr. Obama's appeal to working-class voters. Explained Britain's Daily Mail: "During the American TV debates, Obama followed her advice to knit his brows and look as if he was concentrating intently as a question was asked, before changing his facial expression and relaxing the slight frown into a smile as he came up with the answer."

More evidence that Cameron is a very weak version of Margaret Thatcher.

You got to be up on the “shuck and jive act” to be helped by the Obama liars.

So he was gonna hire McLame’s Clown Car Act? I’d say he probably made the better choice.

He makes Grahmensty look like Thatcher. I a way I hope he loses b/c I don’t want RINOism held out as the template for victory. OTH if he loses, the msm will say conservatism was dealt a decisive blow and the era of Thatcher is gone forever.

The hope is that he will grow some hairs in office like Chris Christie and steer the country away from its current course..

Of course, there not a lot of evidence right now that that is forthcoming..

ALthough, based on various reports about her condition as of late, I don’t know if she’s thinking much about anyone at the moment.

Sad to say, but she is 85 and I don’t know how lucid she is. Not quite a Reagan w/Alzheimer’s stage yet, but not that good, either.

I wouldn’t read too much into reports of her comments. At this stage, she probably doesn’t really know anything at all about the current election and the candidates.

Why would anyone want to emulate Obama?
He’s a lying sack of womanizing crap with delusions of socialist utopia.

And, what about all the Arab money and other illegal contributions funneled into Obama’s campaign. All those styrofoam Greek pillars cost bucks!
