NY Times: Car Bomb a Possible Factor in Broadway Declines
NY Times ^ | May 3, 2010 | By PATRICK HEALY

Almost all Broadway plays and musicals lost money at the box office last week, with some of the biggest declines occurring at theaters near a car that was found to contain a bomb on Saturday evening. The ensuing evacuation of Times Square could have been a factor in some of the declines, theater industry executives acknowledged, but they said they had no data to confirm such a correlation.

The car with the bomb was found on West 45th Street, just west of Seventh Avenue and right outside the Minskoff Theater, where “The Lion King” is playing.

Advance sales; non-refundable tickets; season’s tickets; etc. I expect future ticket sales will be off, for a while to come.

Another stupid article in the New York Times about something that cannot be proven right now. They are trying to make a story out of a non-story.

Perhaps people didn’t want to see those plays, or couldn’t afford them. Not everyone is a Bloomberg.

This makes sense. Theatre patrons didn’t show up Sunday-Thursday because a bomb was going to go off Saturday night.

Duh. These people are the dumbest SOBs in existence. What did they expect would happen, that people would rush to get downtown and be the first ones blown up on Broadway?

It makes sense. I can understand that a car with a bomb in it would keep a few people away ....

It could be argued a bomb goes off almost every day in some Theatre on Broadway.

Bada-ding! I’ll be here the rest of the week...
