Get Ready for a Nuclear Iran
The Wall Street Journal ^ | May 2, 2010 | John Bolton

Negotiations grind on toward a fourth U.N. Security Council sanctions resolution against Iran's nuclear weapons program, even as President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrives in New York to address the Non-Proliferation Treaty review conference. Sanctions advocates acknowledge that the Security Council's ultimate product will do no more than marginally impede Iran's progress.

In Congress, sanctions legislation also creaks along, but that too is simply going through the motions. Russia and China have already rejected key proposals to restrict Iran's access to international financial markets and choke off its importation of refined petroleum products, which domestically are in short supply. Any new U.S. legislation will be ignored and evaded, thus rendering it largely symbolic. Even so, President Obama has opposed the legislation, arguing that unilateral U.S. action could derail his Security Council efforts.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is coming close to fulfilling his wet dream of a nuclearized Iran, and he is winning while the United States and Israel sit back and let Iran, then the rest of the Middle East nuclearize in a Cold War style arms race.

End result of inaction: A nuclearized Middle East.

The inevitable result of inaction on Iran -- all the Muslim power players in the Mideast (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Syria) armed to the teeth with nukes. ...which of course is Armageddon waiting to happen.

Shortly after that: a radioactive Middle East. Seriously, anyone think the follower of Mohammad will be able to restrain themselves? All it will take is one member of the Cult of the 12th Imam to set it off.

Obozo’s and the UN’s proposed solution (at the behest of Egypt et al)? Israel disarms.

Yup, the Middle East is done. Wonder how many of the rest of us they’ll take with them?

Precisely. The deterrence strategy of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) that worked in the Cold War doesn’t quite cut it with nations lead by irrational, violent, 12th Imam-believing, moon god-worshipping cultists.

I don't see how Israel cannot strike.

I don't see how Iran cannot retaliate with everything they have, including an attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz.

I don't see how the US, even under Obama, could not attack Iran if they try to close the strait.

I'm believing EVERYONE already knows what is going to happen...and they're just delaying the conflagration.

It is too soon for the obama admin to have a war. He will prefer to wait until September or October to help during the election.

"I don't see how Israel cannot strike."

With the best ABM defense systems, Israel won't have to strike. And Iran is only blowing smoke about Israel. Iran will probably launch on London, the Vatican, and other western European targets.

Regarding the map you posted, Iran stated its intent to also supply Syria, Sudan and other Muslim nations with nuke technologies and weapons.
