I use Firefox 95% of the time and Chrome for Gmail and FaceBook. Never use IE at home, too dangerous.

Yes! Hip Hip Hooray!!!!!

Now Microsoft needs to lose Operating System share also. Should have been found as what it was, a monopoly. Then busted into a minimum of 8 separate companies, a dozen or more would have been better, and barred from ever regrouping at a later date (like the Baby Bells buying each other out).

Can someone explain to me how Microsoft makes any money from Internet Explorer, assuming that you use google or yahoo for search?

They make money by selling their developer's tools to developers. Most websites are still optimized for IE, not necessarily FF.

By owning the default browser of the world then their dev tools (.Net, asp, Starlight) become the default dev tools, and they sell those for a pretty penny.

Not to mention that practically nothing works in Windows with Internet Explorer being installed.

I use firefox at home, specifically to use grease monkey. Chrome isn't bad either. Only IE is on the computer at work.

You’re welcome.

Well you can pretty much turn on or off any plug-ins you have or even uninstall some things you don’t want.

Like the annoying ‘search bars’ that a lot of programs like to install. (yahoo is one)

Just look under ‘tools -options’.

Yep.

Pretty much all browsers have that option.

To their credit, Microsoft finally hired a middle-schooler to fix the hundreds of CSS problems with Explorer. It works pretty darn well now. They waited many years too long, though, and are paying the price.
