Governor meets with FEMA on flooding
Posted: May 04, 2010 1:18 PM EDT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen met with FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate on Monday in response to the historic flooding experienced in the Nashville area.

"Governor Bredesen and I had a productive meeting with our local partners and talked about the coordinated response in Tennessee," Fugate said in a press released issued Tuesday. "President Obama and Secretary Napolitano have asked me to ensure that state and local officials on the ground have the support they need, and I will report back to them on the response operations."

Governor Bredesen formally requested a major disaster declaration for the state on Monday.

Fugate said FEMA personnel are in place to support the state's response.

He sad a FEMA liaison officer has been on site at the Tennessee Emergency Operations Center and preliminary damage assessment teams have been identified to work with state officials in assessing the storm's impact.

In a press conference Tuesday morning, Nashville Mayor Karl Dean said it is important for residents to document everything and keep receipts.

He said as soon as FEMA assistance is available, the public will be provided with information about how they can apply for assistance.

FEMA will have 800 numbers and Web sites, the mayor said.

It is a state issue. President Bush was not to blame for katarina only the media caused it. This is a state issue - that is why they take so much in taxes - they should handle it or reduce taxes.

For those that aren’t aware, this flood in Nashville is almost of biblical proportions (only slightly exaggerated). There’s been nothing even close to this type of disaster since they started keeping records. But the media is focusing on the oil spill and the bomb in Times Square and this is going mostly unnoticed. The FEMA flood planes are going to have to be completely re-drawn. Even the TN capitol building which sits high on a hill has water in the street-level tunnel. Its a big deal.

It’s really amazing. Something like 30 people have died and Obama hasn’t lifted a finger. He hasn’t said anything. He hasn’t done anything. He hasn’t visited. Nothing.

The media? Crickets.

You just know if Bush or McCain or Palin or some other Republican was President and this happened they’d be all over them.

Now, I realize with the oil spill and now the Times Square bomb that no one’s really paying much attention to this, still. Someone should point it out.

Bad as Millington. Navy base flooded on the south side when the Big Creek Levy gave way, 300+ mobile homes in the Shady Oaks trailer park had 7 feet of water in them..no way to salvage them.

New York. No damage from the latest attack, got to keep up the hype.

Nashville and nearby will be wrecked for some time no need for Obama to trash it more.

And the media has just about ruined the Gulf Coast with their dire predictions
of total disaster. People canceling Summer rentals. Closings on house purchase postponed or canceled due to impending black flood.

Uh so far no oil on the Alabama Or Florida Beaches and reports say with the winds and weather we may get a several day reprieve.

Boxes being built and relief wells being drilled.

It ain't over I know but it also hasn't started.

No worries the season is toast due to extensive propaganda
