Homeland Security didn’t exist in 1999, did they? I thought it was a post 9-11 construct in part because of Clinton’s wall of separation between entities.

“Faisal Shahzad on Homeland Security List Since 1999”

There goes the template being created by the press that it is Bush’s fault. Bush was not President in 1999.

absolutely Fail
why didn’t CBS find out why he was taken off the list after Obama took office
He becomes a citizen, quits his job, lets his house foreclose, goes to pakistan and comes back with more money??
And janet didn’t think he needed watching?

correct, but many of the depts did exist, they just rolled into DHS when it was created.
there would have been a fed agency that tracked large amounts of cash coming in

How can one be on the watch list and still be allowed by BCIS, INS or whatever it’s called now, to become a US citizen?

Correct, but the list existed, probably in the Treasury or State Department.

Once again, we can hope that all future attackers remain as competent at what they do as the folks in DC.

The list probably mirrors Obama’s campaign donor list. That must have been the redundancy Napolitano was talking about the other day.

Should have checked first. It was in the Customs Service, which was Treasury before it became part of Homeland Security.

"Not my job" syndrome. The job of Immigration and Naturalization, the Natrualization part at least, is make more naturalized citizens. Keeping terrorists out is "somebody else's job"
