Will the terrorism "watch list" strip citizens of their 2nd Amendment rights?

With terrorism at the top of the headlines again a U.S. Senate committee today held hearings on ways to strip U.S. citizens of their Second Amendment rights under the guise of protecting the country.

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing titled "Terrorists and Guns: The Nature of the Threat and Proposed Reforms" started at 10 a.m. today.

On the agenda are Senate Bills S. 1317 and S. 2820, both sponsored by Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ).

S. 1317 would grant the U.S. Attorney General the ability to deny the transfer or possession of a firearm to anyone he "has a reasonable belief" might use that firearm in connection with terrorism.

Essentially this would strip the RKBA from anyone on the terrorism "watch list" without due process and without any more then one government official's personal decision.

While keeping weapons out of terrorist hands might help prevent acts of terrorism, a blanket prohibition that strips anyone on the watch list of their ability to legally own a firearm, and on nothing more than the "belief" of a government official, strikes right to the core of our Constitutionally protected freedoms.

Just looking at the huge problems with the "no fly" list, which is a much smaller subset of the entire watch list, should show how dangerous this bill is to law-abiding U.S. Citizens.

>The only solution is to KEEP our guns and to DEPORT all the damn Muslims - the sooner the better.

Half right. We definitely need to keep [and expand] our gun-rights [and even exercise them]; but to put some test on religion (i.e. if Muslem then Deport...) might be used against YOU!

Considering the groups in control of the three branches of government, it is not hard to imagine something like a bill to deport all former-military/Christians/militia-members/”Pro-lifers”/[whatever they want].

ALWAYS, ALWAYS think “how could this be used against me, personally” before saying ‘there ought to be a law’ OR ‘the government should.’

I agree with you oabout everything except Muslims.

Read the Quran and Haddiths and recent and past Islamic History.

There goal is the imposition of Sharia Law and an Islamic Theocracy. Islam is a cult not a religion and equivalent to NAZIsm. Its not a religion. Religions are concerned with spirituality and the afterlife, more or less. Islam is a political system, an economic system and a social system. And Sharia Law refelcts all that. Western Europe thought it could survive with these people. Now it knows better.

Hasn't the Democratic National Socialist Party essentially declared that they think there is terror threat form those that support the 2nd amendment?

Just remember:

Tyrant
1 a : an absolute ruler unrestrained by law or constitution b : a usurper of sovereignty

Oh, hey! it's looks like they're going for a two-fer there.

The collective sounds of gun owners fighting back are about to fill the air in this country.

Been waiting to hear them for a LONG time, and been hearing these promises for just about as long.

All I've ever heard are [crickets].

America -- a great idea, didn't last.
