On the day a body was recovered from the area's worst storm in years, the federal government declared Shelby and Tipton counties disaster areas.
The declaration, requested by Gov. Phil Bredesen, clears the way for federal aid to areas damaged by flooding.
It brings to 10 the number of Tennessee counties declared disaster areas. Four of the counties are in West Tennessee -- Dyer and McNairy were also added Wednesday -- which was hit hard by flooding and wind. The other six to receive the designation -- Cheatham, Davidson, Hickman, Montgomery, Perry and Williamson -- are in Middle Tennessee.
That bit of good news was tempered by the discovery of a body in Raleigh, which may be that of a a 32-year-old man who disappeared in floodwaters Saturday morning.

The Millington Crisis Center at 8133 Wilkinsville is accepting donations of items including new games, toys, diapers, blankets and toilet paper to help flood victims.
Checks can be mailed to the Millington Crisis Center at P.O. Box 1541, Millington, TN 38083.
Crosspointe Baptist Church, 8850 U.S. 51 in Millington, also is accepting perishable food items to help flood victims.

New thread from today’s Commic Appeal 48 photos of the storm damage. Shelby Co has still not been named a disaster area by our government. We are the red headed step child of the state.
You would have thought at least the governor would have come and viewed the damage to the Navy base. The biggest employer outside of FedX.

Zero is not interested. This disaster primarily impacted crackers. Zero and Michelle MaBelle hate whites.
If GW had been in office the MSM would have been covering it 24/7 whining why has he not been here yet. 0 gets a pass because he’s a demwit, just like our out going governor.
Sumner County has not been deemed a disaster area at this time. That is unbelievable. Must be because 70% of the county voted against Obama.

Speaking of Fedex and Nashville, do you know if their national distribution facility is closed by the flooding?
My iPad has been sitting at the Fedex facility in Hong Kong for about 30 hours now. The Nashville center being closed might explain it.

Obama and the RATS = opportunistic racists. As Rahm said, never let a crisis go to waste - and Katrina (as bad a disaster as it was) was a crisis they milked for all it was worth.
Predominantly ‘white’ areas like Tipton County are not considered ‘people of color’ and, as evidenced by the ‘census’ questionnaire are not valued in the same way (or thought of at all - iow - ‘those white people can take care of themselves’, and our basic presupposition as socialists is that white people have ‘screwed the world (and certinaly the US) so they d#$% well better take care of themselves.’)
Even though ‘white’ and we’re none of us white actually, is the combination of all the colors in the spectrum.
So aren’t we people of color too??! (I’m an ‘Italian American’ - really ‘just’ an American!)

But perhaps they failed to look at a RAT qualifying county like Shelby - which is OVER half black! What?! Have they failed qualified ‘people of color’, this so called government of hope and change for ‘the people?’

Same place he was after the ice storm in 2009 - waiting for the golf course to dry up so that he can play a quick 18 before eating burgers at some leftwing restaurant in some liberal city somewhere. He sure as heck doesn't care about middle America - we're not HIS people.
Maybe Tennessee should confiscate federal income taxes withheld from employees in the state and divert those funds to taking care of the flood victims and cleanup.
They sure as heck don't mind stealing tax dollars from those hated whites.
