Sorry to have wasted your time.
Feel free to return to your politics-as-usual.
Fiornia isn’t as liberal as most freepers think. She could be a pleasant surprise. DeVore is obviously the best conservative in the race and I believe he could win the general election too but Fiorina is pro-life and well to the right of DIABLO Tom Campbell.
Big endorsement.
Failorina. After Juan and Junior Paul, this is her third-most odious endorsement.
Fiorina is better than DIABLO liberal Tom Campbell, but that doesn't make her a decent conservative. Sure the fact she turned out to be pro-life is a welcome sign, but there are plenty of politicians who are pro-life but suck on everything else. Fiorina praise for Jesse Jackson, willingness to confirm Sotomayor, reservations about Arizon's immigration law and Democrat talking points about "racist rhetoric" in the immigration debate (at a time when DeVore AND even Tom Campbell both unhestiently endorsed it!), and so on, show that Fiorina can't be trusted.
Palin gets kudos for the pleasant surprise in the Alaska U.S. Senate race, but she still only gets half credit as long as it's an endorsement by proxy by Todd Palin.
I understand the reasoning behind the McCain endorsement (the old "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" in politics), but I don't like her going all out to stump for him in person. The Rand Paul endorsement is probably Sarah Palin foolishly believing libertarian bloggers out there that Paul is the "true conservative" in the race and Grayson is RINO scum (if she took time to carefully research their records on her own, I believe she would realize Grayson is probably more consistently conservative on national security issues and social issues like upholding traditional marriage) The Fiorina endorsement is probably just more "endorse the most rightward candidate on the ballot who has a GOOD shot at winning and can help me later on" mindset, and I think she miscalculated.
But even though I still see Sarah Palin as one of the few conservative prospects we have on the horizon for 2012, I have to concede that a lot of her public actions are "wtf?" moments, and the media loves to exploit that.
In terms of what kind of Senator they would make, I see the breakdown like this:
Carly Fiorina = Mike DeWine
Chuck Devore = Jim Bunning or Tom Coburn
Tom Campbell = Maine twins
Given those options, I'll still rooting for Devore in the primary. Fiorina is acceptable, but I would not be happy if she is the nominee.
I think that Tom Campbell is quite a bit more liberal than the Maibe Sisters, and DeVore not nearly as conservative as Bunning or Coburn, but DeWine seems like a fair comparison to Fiorina. If someone to the left of Olympia Snowe was narrowly leading someone like Mike DeWine, and someone a bit less conservative than Bunning was in single digits, would you suooort the more conservative candidate and let the DIABLO beat out DeWine? Especially if it’s DeWine running not in OH, but in CA, where he’d be the most conservative U.S. Senator in over 50 years?
If DeVore had a shot at the nomination, it would be a different story.
For his part Campbell dismisses the endorsement as an “IOU from the 2008 election cycle” because Fiornia was a close McCain ally.
Think of Knowland or Nixon?
I realize I know little about where Knowland and George Murphy stacked up ideologically.
Knowland was very conservative. He supported Right-To-Work, one of the reasons why when he ran for Governor in 1958, he lost by over 1 million votes. Murphy was somewhat less conservative, but still conservative.
I think that Carly Fiornia would be something like Pete Wilson in her voting record.
Pete Wilson was pro-abortion.
Let’s see... after 1950...
William Knowland... Conservative
Richard Nixon... Moderate
Tom Kuchel... Ultra-Liberal
George Murphy... Conservative
Sam Hayakawa... Moderate
Pete Wilson... Moderate
John Seymour... Moderate
Carly was in the McCain camp, yes? While NOT a big fan of Carly she’s got to be better then Boxer. For me this is not a deal breaker re Sara. But I am slightly disappointed.
Palin is not Reagan, but...endorsing Mccain was different from this one.
Id like to add a few things about my Carly endorsement because some reaction right out of the chute calls for more information:
Carly has been endorsed by the National Right to Life, the California Pro-Life Council, and the Susan B. Anthony List. She is pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, pro-military, and pro-strict border security and against amnesty. She is against Obamacare and will vote to repeal it and prevent the government takeover of private companies and industries. Carly is also a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. Like me, she is a member of the NRA, has a 100% NRA rating, and she and her husband are gun owners. She is pro-energy development and believes as I do in an all-of-the-above approach to energy independence. She is against cap and tax. And most importantly, Carly is the only conservative in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer. Thats no RINO. Thats a winner.
You know it AC.
In taking everything in total, views, the person and how that can campaign against Boxer, Carley is the person.
Interesting how the trolls try but can’t touch Sarah Palin.
Lets see, who was the first major person to support your Arizona Gov. and sat next to her at the ball game the day after she signed the bill re illegals - Sarah Palin.
you betcha!
Speaking of ballgames it pisses me off how this is spilling into baseball with the hysterical un-American boycott the whole state calls. When the D-Backs came here to Chicago they were protested by idiots. The ownership of the D-backs and some players were quick to mouth off “wait this is troubling to us, we must protect our Latin players (even though none are illegal and in need of “protection”)
Idiot congressman calling for the all-star game to be moved out Phoenix. Ala the absurd moving of the Super Bowl until Arizona agreed to ‘celebrate’ MLK day.
Idiot Illinois State Senator calling for the Sox to break their lease on their 100 million dollar spring training facility in Arizona shared with the Dodgers and move to Florida.
Ozzie Guillen after impressing me with his comments on Sean Penn says he’ll boycott the All-star game (like the AL would want him as a coach the way the Sox are playing).
Heath Bell of the Padres displaying his shocked ignorance.
Basketball too “Los Suns” (shouldn’t it be Los Sols?)
Sports should be a refuge from this crap.
Interesting. Thanks guys.
Kuchel...eww. He and Goodwin Knight.
Waiting for that to happen...
Libs are great in telling others how to live and what to do, all while exempting themselves. Filthy, used merkins they are.
