At first blush, Democrats should have nothing to fear in Pennsylvanias 12th Congressional District special election. John Murtha held this seat for decades. Democrats have a 2-1 registration advantage over Republicans. Their candidate was a Murtha aide for over ten years, while their opponent has had little political experience. And yet, the AP has gotten a big whiff of panic from Pennsylvania Democrats...
The polling shows a very close race with Burns in the lead. That has Democrats worried about how other normally-safe districts might turn out in November. That fear has come out in Critz campaigning, where he has tried walking a tightrope between opposition to ObamaCare and refusing to commit to overturning it. In a debate yesterday, Burns hammered Critz as to whether his opposition means anything at all if he refuses to take action once elected, a hypocrisy that will not have gone unnoticed by voters watching the debate....
The election will take place in less than two weeks.

Monty?
Quick, make Puerto Rico a state! Push through an amnesty bill! Push through the bill that will give ex felons the right to vote!
I almost mentioned Monty but I was too lazy. However, I like the way Monty thinks. I would strongly support a Monty/Mr. Krabs ticket in 2012.
Note: I do have some concerns about Smithers.
Translation: this is a complete crook, who seriously needs to go to jail for many, many years plus a multi-million fine for all the money he has stolen.
If any voter in PA-12 has Conservative sentiments this is the time to vote for them.
feel the burn baby....feel the burn!!!!
Coaltrain, before you get generous with Burns, check out his Republican primary challenger, Lt. Col. Bill Russell.
Russell was the R WHO ALMOST BEAT MURTHA last time ‘round.
Russell is very conservative, yet was not the darling of the PaRino party. Nothing against Burns...he is a gazillion times better than Murtha/Critz but...give Russell (who is polling really well) a look see:
you can vote for Burns in the Special Murtha replacement election because Russell is not on the ballot. But Russel is on the Republican primary ballot against Burns.
These two elections are being held at the same time.
My wife is from this district. Nice people, mostly Catholic. But they still believe in the Democrats because “Republicans are for the rich, Democrats are for the poor.”
Strongly pro-life.
Now you tell me. Luckily I wasn’t that generous. I’ll check out Russell as well. It looks like the post after yours explains the special election vs. primary options, so it looks like Russell is still in the picture for the primary.
Thanks.
Cannot someone give me a mapquest address to murtha’s grave site. I would like to relieve myself of some of the bitterness my bladder feels for this *(&*^*&^%&^.
