Not long ago right here on Free Republic there was a |boomlet to make this woman President of the United States.

It is amazing how susceptible Americans, even conservatives, are to the temptation to substitute race for fidelity to conservative principles in picking candidates.

I remember that - those posts did not come from conservatives. There are many here pushing ‘their’ agenda. Why they are tolerated, I don’t know.

Even many bedrock conservatitives are susceptible to the decades-long, propagandizing effects of white guilt. Many will bend over backwards to try and fit the lukewarm, moderate black Republican into the round, truly Conservative hole.

Rice, Steele and earlier, even Powell, are all real-world examples.
