It was all the rage months ago in conservative circles - question Obama's citizenship. Every GOP hopeful has pretty much weighed in on the issue, with those pandering to the Republican base doing everything but coming out against the crazy conspiracy... until now.
It seems that as campaigns hit high gear, now is the time to distance themselves from those who propagated such wild tales. Take into consideration California assemblyman Chuck DeVore.
"The president is doing himself no favors by spending millions of dollars to block the release of documents surrounding his birth certificate," DeVore said to Dave Weigel. "As long as the president keeps fighting tooth and nail to prevent the release of such things, people are going to remain skeptical."
Of course, DeVore later released a statement through his communications director reaffirming Devore's belief in the legitimacy of the president. Is it possible that his statement was only meant to illustrate a political distraction? Yes, but I think there is more to DeVore, who has pretty much adopted every other Tea Party talking point.
Most recently, "birther" queen Orly Taitz had been uninvited from a Tea Party Rally in which Chuck DeVore was scheduled to attend. DeVore spokesman, Josh Trevino, issued the following statement:
"I can say emphatically that the Chuck DeVore campaign and Chuck DeVore himself strongly disapproves of Orly Taitz and the crazy theories she continues to advance." Why can't DeVore, or any other conservative candidate actually argue the matter for the president, instead of issuing a vague statement of disapproval?
Also consider that DeVore is endorsed by the Tea Parties, and according to this recent poll by CBS, a majority of Tea Partiers either believe the president was born outside the country or are unsure of his citizenship...
While you can't choose your followers, you can refuse their endorsements, but in doind so, you will most likely alienate their most important feature - their money.

Chuck DeVore and everybody else needs to be aware of this:
The Hawaii Department of Health has confirmed in 2 different ways, through official communications, that the Factcheck COLB is a forgery because
1) the HDOH has made repeated statutory admissions that Obama’s birth certificate is amended. Any genuine long-form or COLB from the HDOH has to have note of that amendment. The Factcheck COLB doesn’t and is thus known as a forgery. And
2) The HDOH has stated that all of Oahu’s birth certificates have always been received at the state registrar’s office and given a birth certificate number by the state registrar on the same day – the “date filed”. The Factcheck COLB has a “date filed” 3 days earlier than the Nordyke twins’ but a certificate number 2 later than theirs. This new statement from the HDOH rules out the previous attempts to explain the discrepancy (pre-numbered BC’s at hospitals, or BC’s sitting in piles for 3 days awaiting processing). Because the number and date filed are incompatible, the Factcheck COLB is known to be a forgery.

At this point, I say, whatever gets him the nomination. He’s the best of the candidates by a mile.

Yup. In his own political interest, Chuck just threw many Conservatives under the bus.
It’s not like he had to go out of his way to AFFIRM OBAMA’S CITIZENSHIP and call birthers “CRAZY.” There was absolutely no reason for that.
At 13% and falling, I would say he definitely won’t be the nominee. Shooting oneself in the foot usually doesn’t get any sympathy vote either.
Each of us absolutely must release our long form birth certificate but we don't even have the right (standing) to ask for a politician's birth certificate? Even as a courtesy?
Our Kenyan (according to Mrs. Obama, et al) Kakistocrat and his kindred klan of 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus revolutionary rabble and the ideological issue (like the Obamas) of same are arguably now the Establishment and Mr. DeVore says we're the problem?

How come these people flip flop all the time. Isn’t he meant to be a “real conservative”? Real conservatives don’t flip flop.
And selling the rule of law down the river is a pretty serious thing as well. That’s really what this is about.
Obama is just a glorified illegal immigrant and the courts, media, politicians, and conservative pundits are telling us that even after he’s been caught for other potentially criminal activities (such as forgery, perjury, charity fruad, social security fraud, and extortion) we can’t check his citizenship status.
The vast majority of Americans recognize that the Arizona law is about enforcing the rule of law. By extension, if they think it through at all, they have to see that Obama SHOWING DOCUMENTATION for his own citizenship status after being caught in very suspicious behavior is also an issue of the rule of law - for the same reasons.
If it quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, and walks like a duck.... maybe you’re justified in checking to see whether it is, in fact, a duck.
If we can’t do that, we may as well not have laws.
I said it before... this proves that there are NO CONSERVATIVES in this election.

I agree. I too used to get upset when others backed down, but after much thought & reflection of the current political climate, I would rather they back away, get elected, then charge forward when we have enough Congressional votes to override the Democratic Alinsky Party.

Not true. The birther issue has always been at the fringes. Every mainstream conservative pundit and organization has been ridiculing birthism for the last year and a half.
Birthism started on the left by 9-11 truther and Hillary Clinton supporter Phil Berg.
