Net Neutrality War Heats Up
American Thinker ^ | May 8th | Joseph Smith

In a renewed drive to regulate the Internet, the FCC has announced scaled-back ambitions for Net Neutrality, but only after an appeals court ruling that the FCC had "overstepped its authority."

To evade the court ruling, the FCC aims to impose Net Neutrality - equal treatment for all web traffic, compelled through government regulation - by "regulating broadband lines under decades-old rules designed for traditional phone networks."

Scaled back or not, Net Neutrality is the government foot in the Internet door, with ominous implications for future private investment as well as for the future vitality of the new media.

And so the Obama agenda rolls out, aided and abetted by the old-line, far-left, Democratic committee chairmen like Mr. Waxman. November can not come soon enough.

He must control the internet - largely for the manipulation of global funding, financing, and restrictions on buying/selling & travel for the "unfavorables."

It's really not information sharing he cares about because insurrection can be quelled easily enough.

“FCC Chairman and Harvard Law classmate of Barack Obama, Julius Genachowski, considers broadband to be a “hybrid” between heavily regulated utilities and unregulated information services: “

Obama needs ‘net control. Like Bill Clinton he is having problems with the Internet. Sort of like the problem King George had with the periodic authors in his day.

Most conservative outlets are well aware of what net neutrality is. This isn’t the first thing I’ve seen from american thinker which makes it clear they understand it isn’t a good thing. NRO has plenty on this nightmare as well.

I’ve heard Rush, Beck, and many others talk about it in the realistically damaging terms as well.

The media fight is of course a huge part of the battle.

But as far as petition drives, specific legal battles/challenges and other sorts of things I do not know.

That’s why I post about it regularly. Government control of the internet would do so much damage to the conservative movement and they know it. That’s why they want it so bad.

This is a natural progression in which a society becomes more centralized.

Go to Europe, to those places the American liberal looks to with wide open eyes and you see this exact same situation. While they have quote on quote freedom and rights, the reality is that the state manages and regulates every aspect of life down to the minutia detail. Like the right to bear arms, you liberties, your freedoms are long gone and buried behind government policies, red tape, and taxes all intended to “think for you.”

You end up with a government telling you what health care you have, what car you drive, what your kids are educated/indoctrinated with, what you can and can’t say, and they will even dictate to you what pet you may own, what words are forbidden to say....... we’re not far from it today, and some eagerly and with wide open eyes look forward to this near Orwellian nightmare that would make our founding fathers roll in their graves. But what do most Liberals care or even know about the ideals expressed in various documents and speeches. To them the founding fathers, our Constitution and this belief in a God are nothing more than obstacles in the way of their Utopian world.

Welcome to a newer kindler and gentler world, as long as you play along with whatever the Politburo says is right. Like in the DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik) we will have nothing more that hollow words to describe principals we have long lost. Like the German “technically” can buy any car he wants, or a gun...... we’ll be in a world where the long reaching hand of the government through rules, taxes, fees, and bureaucracy guides you through life, essentially making all critical decisions in life for you. For those that fear making decisions, for whom “freedom” equates to fear and personal responsibly/accountable which they shrink from, this new world is great, because it’s a life on a conveyor belt.

If they try censorship they have no idea what a storm of protest they will stir up. People will go nuts!

"Most conservative outlets are well aware of what net neutrality is."

Unfortunately, they dont. They dont have the vaguest fricken clue beyond some visceral understanding that its bad.

Net Neutrality is the backbone that merges things like the E911 chip, BPL, high frequency RFID, smart shelves and smart carts, OnStar type systems, black boxes in vehicles, credit cards, "the cashless society", smart grids, and a number of other issues that conservatives have a primal reaction to, into one singular virtually inescapable system to place the jackboot socialism (more specifically fascist) on the face of man for the rest of eternity.

Also unfortunate is that this sounds too similar to the fundamentalist evangelical teachings of "The Mark of The Beast" and is largely ignored.

In order to procede with nationalization of industry, the Left must nationalize thought.

FNN, talk radio, this forum stand in the way. They must be brought to heel.
