PORT ORCHARD, Wash. - A 72-year-old man who says he shot an intruder he caught rummaging in his home has been arrested for investigation of first-degree manslaughter, police said.
The incident unfolded early Saturday at a Port Orchard-area apartment complex in the 1900 block of SE Larch Lane, said Scott Wilson, spokesman for the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to a report of shots fired at about 3:35 a.m. during an alleged burglary at the 72-year-old man's apartment unit, Wilson said.
The man told deputies that he was awakened by a noise inside of his apartment, so he armed himself with a handgun and left his bedroom to investigate.

They would be much happier to read 72 year old man murdered by a male person who’s father left home when he was a boy his mother is a hooker crack addict and he ate paint chips as a child which made him do it.

This sounds like the same sort of environment that had the perp been prosecuted, he’d be out on the streets in no time.

Two handguns and a rifle, along with several boxes of ammunition, were confiscated from the resident for safekeeping as the investigation was just starting. Ahh yes, the "new" America, land of the (formerly) free....

Homeowner vs. intruder.....wouldn't be an issue if the guy was still in his house, but he was fleeing so it might get complicated.

Perhaps Washington is a ‘must retreat’ state. Dunno. Fortunately I live in Georgia.
Do you feel lucky, punk?

If that the elderly guy didn’t take that punk, who felt entitled to other people’s property, out he’d be out doing the same thing to some one else. I don’t know why the elderly guy just didn’t take him out inside his apartment while he had the chance.

Hopefully the old gentleman will get a jury with some sense who will set him free.
It’s a crying shame that you can’t rid the world of dangerous vermin without risking your own liberty.

Perhaps Washington is a must retreat state.I don't know, it might just be a "don't chase the intruder down and shoot him in the back" state. I've heard there are a few of those.

Need more info. With no forced entry evident there could be more to this story that might paint an entirely different picture.
