It’s more a class thing than a Beltway thing (I grew up inside the Beltway).
Take Hugh Hewitt, Salem Radio host, who lives out here in Irvine, CA. Irvine is about as upscale as you can get without having walls and security guards manning the gates. Hugh is a typical open borders/amnesty elitist. He not only didn’t help us pass Prop 187, he was on the other side. People like Hugh feel very noble when they come out on behalf of the poor illegals. But then it isn’t Hugh’s upscale neighborhood that then gets scarred with graffiti. His neighborhood doesn’t end up with bars on the windows. Petty crime doesn’t degrade his town. That’s for little people, you know, the ones that the Bushies and Obamaites dismiss as xenophobes and vigilantes.
Hugh Hewitt is an apologist for the Rockefeller Republicans. I heard him once, I turned him off after 2 minutes.
