Jackson “hated” the Indians so much that he adopted one as his own son.

Jackson continued the long tradition of reneging on previous Indian treaties. Thousands of Indians perished during the forced relocations.

Of course the Trail of Tears certainly was not a highpoint, but I still think the greatness of Jackson is that he created the Manifest Destiny that led to us taking as much as we could of North America.

Jackson retired after serving as President in 1837. The Manifest Destiny, at least as a term, was evidently created by a New York journalist in 1839.

I didn’t say he invented the term Manifest Destiny. He instigated the belief that we shall overcome most of the Continent westward. - Jeez talk about clutching at straws.
