Another reform high on the list is removing the state from the marketplace in crucial sectors like health care . . . [and] making it easier for the government to lay off some of the many thousands of public sector workers, whose low levels of productivity and high wages are a big contributor to Greece’s debt problem.

Don't be silly. As the Obama/Pelosi regime pushed socialized medicine on our country, they assured us that socialism would allow them to provide more and better medical care at a lower cost, and the NYT backed the regime on that claim. The same is true for the "Stimulus" boondoggle, which the NYT also supported. I'm quite confident that these socialist measures beloved by NYT liberals have not gone from being wonderful money-saving ideas to budget busters in the space of a few months or one year.

Greece had also pledged to raise its value-added tax to 25 percent

Now THAT'S going to get people out spending money buying more products! But then again, does Greece make anything for people to buy?

I brought attention to this on FR last week, wondering when anyone in the mainstream media would mention it.

The IMF is helping to bail out Greece. One of the requirements by the IMF in order for Greece to get the funds is they must ‘privatize’ their gov’t run health care system (among other gov’t supported programs).

How much exposure will the main stream media give that?

It is about time SOMEONE starts disseminating this! LOL!
