Count on Mumbles Menino to come up with winners like this. Click on the link to see a Democrat big city mayor and Aunt Zeituni's landlord in action.

Tek may be guilty of splitting something but it sure as hell wasn’t the uprights.

I heard this today on ESPN radio. I love when he says ‘ionic’ instead of ‘iconic.’

Politicians should really avoid sports unless they actually know what they’re talking about. If you have to research it ... you should just cut the whole passage.

Blatant mistakes like that just makes them look stupid.

Wasn’t Veritek a Yankee-lover. No...that was Curt Shilling.

“The mayor said the statue captured an ‘ionic’ moment.”

What a doofus! Doric, clearly.

But that’s a column for another day.

Not sure there's a warm spot in Tek's heart for the Yanks.

he also wouldn’t allow “Potta Potties” at a championship parade because they “could be used as weapons”. Mumbles Maroon

David Martinez too...you know they weren't gonna walk him.

"Boston has an amazing set of remarkable athletes whose actions in the moment have become (sic) ionic in sports. Havlicek stole the ball. Fisk waved the ball fair. Flutie launched the Hail Mary pass. Varitek split the uprights. Today we honor one of the most brilliant moments: Bobby Orr flying through the air. Who could forget that play against St. Louis as the Bruins beat the Blues to bring a Stanley Cup to Boston?"

That may be how the reporter wrote it down...but that is not how Mumbles Menino said these words. I heard him.

Allow me to translate the monologue into the original pronunciation;

"Bossin has amazin' set of 'markable athletes whose ashins in the mo'nt ha' become ionic in spawts. Havlicek stowda bawl. Fis' wavin' the ball fayuh. Flooie launchin' the Hail May pass. Varitek split the uprights. Today we awnah one the mos' brilliant mo'nts: Bobby Awe flyin' through the air. Who could forget tha' play 'gainst St. Louis as the Broons beat the Blues to bring a Stan'y Cup to Bossin?"
