If I’m not mistaken, today’s British Conservative is slightly to the left of the typical American Democrat.

Unfortunately for Cameron and the Conservatives, he now has assumed responsibility for governing the UK, but has little ability to enact policy changes that will actually improve the economic situation.

Has Brown resigned as PM? The Queen wouldn’t meet with Cameron until he did, right?

A marked improvement over Gordon Brown. Cameron, do the right thing: imitate Margaret Thatcher.

Sounds like Cameron gave away the store to get the job. According to the BBC Lib Dems got pretty much everything they wanted...and looks like they might get 4 cabinet positions too.

amidst uncertainty about the shape of his coalition with the Lib Dems
That tells me a lot right there. At a time when Britain has to cut taxes AND spending to right the ship, they're going to have to compromise on the later with their socialist coalition and continue to spend themselves towards bankrupcy.
My Mutual Funds has an International Fund that has a huge investment in the UK, I'm pulling out of it and moving it somewhere else.

Some of you are too exacting - criticizing Cameron before the lad has had so much as a full day? WTF - did you expect him to
not form a
compromise coalition government?
It's the Commonwealth of all Commonwealth countries, for chris'sakes they invented the welfare state before David was born. It isn't just going to magically disappear overnight.
You should want the new PM to succeed so he can greet Bobo's (Peace be upon The One-Term) replacement in 2013, with a strong handshake -- and no goddamn bowing!
YOU WANT THATCHER ELECT PALIN.

Mr. Cameron, Congratulations! Always remember what Margaret Thatcher said, "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples money."
