Jimmy Carter's grandson wins Ga. election

Jason Carter, the grandson of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Tuesday won a special election sending him to the Georgia Senate.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the younger Carter, a Democratic Atlanta lawyer, polled 65.6 percent to win state Senate District 42 in DeKalb County. Tom Stubbs, another Democratic attorney, was second with 22.9 percent, Libertarian businessman David Montane was third with 7.5 percent, and Independent Steve Patrick had 3.8 percent.

Carter fills a vacancy created when Sen. David Adelman quit to become U.S. ambassador to Singapore. The term expires at the end of the year.

"My family opened the doors, but ultimately I think people decided on me for my merit and not my family," said Carter, 34, who founded the national community service non-profit Democrats Work. "But, of course, my family helped. It's part of me."

Wonder if there will be a Ronald Reagan relative moving to Georgia to bail them out after another Carter messes things up?

It never amazes me how failure never fazes Democrats. The more you fail, the more they’re impressed by you! I’m proud to say that had Carter been a Republican, he wouldn’t dare show his face, or have a family member run on his name!

I remember reading how Jimmy Carter’s nephew had to borrow stamps in prison from Charles Manson just to write letters to him.

I guess you could say that “it runs in the family”.

An allusion that could be taken any number of ways when discussing the Carter clan.

That’s too bad. I thought Georgians had more sense than that.

What is it with this terrible political disease that infects the minds of the people of the US when they vote people into office simply because of what their fathers, mothers, grandparents and great grandparents were?

I’m sick of these dynasties and the people who keep putting them into office thinking they are some type of royalty and the line must go on. For example....the “swimmer” and his family.

Bingo. And don’t forget the old stand-by of appointing or electing a widow of someone who dies in office as a sympathy gesture.

LOL, I think you’re on to something. This story isn’t so much about Carter as it is the electorate in his district. I think dumber than a box of rocks sums it up pretty well.

It also sums up why obama will be re-elected in 2012.

In a word, there will be more fools, idiots, and traitors[American haters] and less Patriots.

That shi*ty movie did more to harm southerners than anything else! Why don’t people realize it is just a movie most likely produced and directed by Hollywood liberals who hate the south? Southern people are just like the rest of America except a whole lot more civil in my book. Sorry about the rant but I am just so sick of the stupid stereotypes. The Carter clan are just liberals pure and simple just like your typical New Yawk liberals.
