Note: One should not make too much of the “geographical code.” It is not meant to be any kind of useable geographical information. The numbering scheme was designed in 1936 (before computers) to make it easier for SSA to store the applications in our files in Baltimore since the files were organized by regions as well as alphabetically. It was really just a bookkeeping device for our own internal use and was never intended to be anything more than that.

Do you have any explanation/theory as to why Obama has the first 3 Social Security numbers that seem to belong to persons who applied in Connecticut as opposed to the first 3 numbers that a person applying in Hawaii would be expected to have? Thanks.

It shows that an official government record exists in which he used that number and it is not an erroneous entry from a database.

Is it just me, or is Obama's signature on the Selective Service form so different from the signature Obama uses today?

It is as if someone other than Obama signed the Selective Service form.

NOTE: I have pointed out this obvious difference in Obama's signatures for many months, so this is not the first time I have pointed out the difference.

The Social Security number doesn't appear on the Selective Service form. What does appear is his Selective Service number.

Now if you go on the Selective Service site and look up a record with his name, date of birth, , and the 042 Social Security number,a record exists that matches the Selective Service number he was issued.It is all explained here:

Now if you are referring to the card that he filled out, it is probably in the blacked out section since they can’t reveal that info.

That is not exactly true. They are now. But I was born in 1965 and didn't have a SS# issued until 1976 or so. It is different now.
