Fake but true.

Snope it. That is from April 1 2009(see the joke coming?) and the site was purposely created to get everyone scrambling all overt themselves.

Here is what they wrote after the scam was uncovered.

Americans for Freedom of Information is a completely fake organization that finds advantage in its nonexistence for tax-purposes, and recommends hypotheticality to anyone looking to avoid the IRS. Plus, it means that one’s nonexistent mother in law won’t find one as easily as one’s nonexistent mother in law might were one to actually be placed in the time-space continuum of observable fact.
