Laura Bush Supports Gay Marriage, Abortion

Former first lady Laura Bush has broken with her husband on the premier social issues of his administration and said she backs gay marriage and abortion.

After more than eight years of silence on the controversial issues, Mrs. Bush said in an interview with CNN's Larry KingTuesday, that gay marriage and abortion were points of contention with her husband, former President George W. Bush.

Mrs. Bush in recent weeks has been promoting her memoir "Spoken from the Heart," in which she writes about her life both before and after becoming first lady.

In response to a question about gay marriage, she said, "There are a lot of people who have trouble coming to terms with that because they see marriage as traditionally between a man and a woman. But I also know that, you know, when couples are committed to each other and love each other, that they ought to have, I think, the same sort of rights that everyone has."

Mrs. Bush said she and the ex-president "disagree" on legalizing same-sex marriage.

Actually, it is precisely because of this drivel that I will buy and read her book. The media are experts at misrepresenting a position and twisting words and opinions. I need to read for myself, in her own words, what she thinks. I do not take the world of “experts” when it comes to reporting the whole truth. What better way to destroy a conservative than to attack, misrepresent and erode support from the base, to strip away supporters by misstatements, innuendos and downright lies? Sarah Palin’s book is an excellent example on getting to know the person, to see beyond the media hype and distortions.

Do you think she said those things, or is it possible the media lefty-nuts are not telling the whole truth?

Sarah Palin will sell more books than all three of them combined.

“Barbara Bush was pro-abortion, too. Very unfortunate, because I like both of those ladies. But they seem to have blind spots on some of these basic moral issues.”

Sadly, relativism has eaten away at large segments of our population. People often buy into ideas promoted by the popular culture without thinking through to the logical outcome.

Absolutely not... but she didn’t say the opposite and I knew of all of this before... SHE HAS ALWAYS BEEN PRO ABORTION AND PRO GAY MARRIAGE... AND LAURA IS FOR AMNESTY... and I will never support a Bush again... not even for dog catcher.

No book buying from this family. You may be a cute old lady, but you’re evil!

I know a few ‘conservative’ women(on most issues and who vote conservative for the most part) who HATE abortion but have that whole woman's rights thing....something to do with back alley abortions and their rights to determine when its time for them to procreate not someone else.

Most of them abhor late-term abortions and believe in the ban on same....

Not agreeing with them...just presenting what I have heard from them.

Sounds like she's gone Unitarian/Universalist on us...if she was ever anything else.

No, she's a member of the United Methodist Church. Her beliefs regarding same-sex marriage and abortion are the teachings of the UMC.

You don’t become a president by being married to a president, end of story.

Hillary found that out the hard way, heh?

If I ever met Laura Bush, I would ask her this question....

“If I could time travel and I met your mother when she was pregnant and carrying you, and abortion was legal at that point in time, would you find it acceptable if I talked your mother into having an abortion?” If Laura told me no, I would say, “Why not?” It’s a woman’s right to choose.

It’s like Ronald Reagan said, “Those people in favor of abortion have already been born.”

So, now we have Laura Bush admitting that she is in favor of gay marriage and abortion. Her husband Jorge made sure that our southern border was wide open and for eight years tolerated and encouraged the Mexican invasion, even after September 11, 2001. Then he pushed for amnesty.

Jesse Jackson was right when he said, “America, stay outta the Bushes!” I’ll never vote for another Bush again, for any office. No wonder we’re stuck with Obama today.

won’t be getting the book and yet again another high profile figure who is not with the mainstream of America saying they want homo’s and killing babies

imagine if the media actually spent half of their time looking at their messiah and reporting the facts

same here

the Bush family are totally lost from what the majority of this country thinks about and wants.

they sit there in their nice big houses and surround themselves with like minded folk.
Maybe they should think about two men poking each other and then ask themselves is that actually natural or normal go and look at them on their freak parades and making out in a public toilet.
They can look at ultrasounds and see if that is a baby and then watch the abortion and see the baby get ripped from the womb.

course they also wanted amnesty too, as in their mind they would nto be affected by illegals robbing them, killing them or even them waiting in a room with everyone speaking Spanish around them while they look and laugh at you and th eonly world you hear is gringo

2 words: Harriet Miers.

All the legislation in the world is a teaspoon in the ocean compared to a Supreme Court nomination. And left to his own devices, Bush picked Harriet Miers.

How many couples do you know where they both are practicing Christians, and the husband is pro-life, but the wife is pro-abortion? How in the world did we get four straight presidential candidates in the Republican party who were not only abject failures and complete squishes in terms of domestic policy, but who couldn’t even rally their wives let alone the nation to the prolife cause?

This isn’t like a disagreement over unemployment insurance. This is a disagreement over a profoundly moral issue... and whether the wife feels she has a right to kill their baby!

The sad thing is that I truly believe Jim DeMint is right about Jeb Bush. He is far smarter and probably a far more spiritually advanced Christian. But he is pro-illegal and I’ll never take a chance with another Bush.

I am B/S right now with how this idiot in then white house is putting homos in top positions knowing this lays the ground work for their agenda and she now speaks up , even Mccain’s family has shut up since he is running for his life.

The elitist part of the GOP can go to hell I am sick and tired of them being out of touch with mains stream Amaerica.

They have no clue what it’s like to work all hours, sit in a waiting room with loads of illegals , to see them collect their food stamps, to have to stand in line and try to find a teller who speaks English.
etc
etc
etc

it’s high time we got rid of the majority of them and brought in those who know what the real world is all about.

It’s bad enough we have the far left kooky we also have some in our side kooky and out of touch

add to the fact that half to heir workers are illegal and then we know why the Bush’s are like they are

funny how the far left hates that family but as soon as one says they have no problem with perverts and queers the family is the best thing since sliced bread
