Susan Collins: Filibuster of Elena Kagan unlikely
Politico ^ | May 13, 2010 | Marin Cogan

Maine Republican Susan Collins said Thursday she does not foresee a Republican filibuster of Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan, but she’s withholding judgment on her own vote until after the summer hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

And in a statement that may further bolster the prospects for Kagan’s confirmation, Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.), a potential swing vote, said he was comfortable with Kagan’s explanation of Havard’s ban on military recruiters at the Law School.

If she were replacing Scalia, that’s an entirely different kettle of fish.

You wish, fact is it wouldn't matter one whit. We have most of the idiots Curtesy of Orin Hatch.

Collins 2014....?

I thought she was elected to a 6 year term in 2010. Am I mistaken?

She last ran in 2008. The only Senate election so far this year was in MA.

I am confused. I meant to say she won a 6 year term in 2008 which would put her up again in 2014

See my # 45. I finally got it right. At any rate we will have to listen to that strange trembling voice for at least 4 more years

"As for Scott Brown, that is disgusting. It’s OK to ban military recruiters at Harvard because the military doesn’t like to have gays attacking their fellow troops in the showers or creeping into bunks in the barracks?"

I'm fine with the recruiting restriction. The last thing the Army needs are more Harvard lawyers.

If you want Collins out of there, there needs to be a Conservative Republican who can beat her in the Republican Primary.

That man is Paul LePage.

But he needs to become Governor first.

After 4 years in charge in Augusta, he could challenge Collins from that seat.

The Primary, with 7 candidates, is 10 days away, on June 8, and Paul LePage could use your campaign contributions and if you’re in Maine, your vote.

The GOP needs to whisper in Collins ear and promise her that she’s TOAST. Her Constituents can and should do the same thing ASAP. All RINO’s must be put on notice that they’re through.

Freepers that donated and helped this gutless, spineless turncoat, must start calling his office hourly as well as recruit others that donated to this closet RAT.

Specific things have to happen to beat Collins.

There has to be a Republican Challenger that can beat her in the Primary. There is nobody on the Republican side near Snowe or Collins. If a Republican wins Governor in November, it's that guy. No one else. Here are the famous politicians in Maine. Collins, Snowe, Democrats. Add the next Gov of Maine, if he's a Republican. Is the Republican Gov of Maine a RINO? If it's LePage he isn't. If it's Mills, it's a DIABLO, who might actually be worse than Collins. If it's Abbott, it's Collins Chief of Staff who might be a RINO, but might be an improvement, but he won't challenge her. If it's Beardsley, he's a good conservative but a friend of Collins. Otten, Poliquin, Jacobsen, all might challenger her, but all might be RINOs. LePage, Abbott, Otten and Mills are the front runners.

So, I understand why people not from Maine might not care at all about who Maine's Governor is, but if you really want to get rid of Collins, instead of just saying it's too bad that she's voting the way she is, there has to be a credible challenger. And that's the sitting Governor in Maine.

LePage should be placed in the spot to challenge Collins in 2014. He needs your votes and your contributions
