Sarah Palin's Political Bandwagon Is wobbling Under The Weight of Contradictions [Fiorina Backlash?]

Sarah Palin's Political Bandwagon Is wobbling Under The Weight of Contradictions The Sarah Palin phenomenon is finally beginning to fade as contradictions mount up, says Alex Spillius in Washington

Alex Spillius 15 May 2010

We are seeing the first signs of wobble on the Sarah Palin bandwagon. This may seem a strange thing to say about a political superstar who has earned at least $12 million in the past 18 months from a publishing advance, personal appearance fees and a television punditry contract, not to forget a reality show about life in Alaska.

Palin is such a boon to the struggling book world that her second opus, America by Heart - Reflection on Family, Faith and Flag, can already be ordered in advance even though publication is six months away. A return to the number one spot on the best seller list surely awaits.

But other indices are proving less kind to the former Alaska governor. According to a recent poll more Alaskans than not think the presidency should not form the next chapter of Palin's extraordinary story, while 45 per cent gave her a negative personal rating. When John McCain plucked her from obscurity to be his Republican running mate in the 2008 campaign, her approval rating at home was 80 per cent, the highest of any governor in the country.

Now even a poll of Tea Party supporters, her most ardent fans, showed that a majority wouldn't vote for her if she ran for president in 2012. It is not just that the faithful are beginning to question her readiness for the White House.

And, in fact, they probably cannot tell us who they support for POTUS 2012, and if that person is pure enough. That said, there is legit, healthy criticism that I hope Sarah herself will listen to - if not from us, then from others like us that she depends on for wise counsel.

Well, I agree that we will continue to drive from the Right just as I think she will continue to reach across the expanse of the Republican party to get the nomination and achieve party unity, and that probably means making some dubious alliances. It’s a hard scrabble business. But she is the most conservative would-be candidate who can actually win, and winning is what I’m into. Just win baby.

“She yielded to her opposition when she resigned. She is a nice woman, but she has demonstrated that she can’t take the political heat while in office as governor.”

That is a liberal Olbermann talking point.

She handed the Governorship over to a Republican and she now is the loudest voice attacking Obama on an almost daily basis.

Where are DeMyth, Romney etc?

Palin has a national stage and is in the fight bigger and better than ever...She’ll be announcing after the 10 midterms.

Get used to it.

“I see. So not matter what Steele does and no matter how racist he is and nt matter how unfit for the job - she should be vocally outspoken telling people to lay off him because she wants to run, eh???”

Palin is the last person to attack the national GOP Establishment. They hate her...and convinced a sea of conservative fools to do their bidding.

You want change at the national GOP level ...deal with Party hacks....Romney and DeMyth.

“Sarah has run into the political fight like nobody else.”

Gold coin post.

How do they not see it?

See my tagline.

Reggie Jackson “Nobody boos a nobody”

Palin is a somebody. Everything she does is under a bigger microscope than anyone else with the exception of President Obama.

That must mean she has clout. The Democrats know she is the best we have. That is why they attack her. Republicans know that it is hers to win, some get nervous.. others try to exploit any mistake she makes.

The point is. She has it. John F. Kennedy had it. Ronald Reagan had it.

I don’t know what it is. But she has it.

well then you proved my point...

this notion she cannot be called wrong on an issue here on Free Republic now.

the owner of this forum apparently disagrees and I agree with him

i like her but don’t agree on McCain or Fiorina or if her PAC gave cash to Lindsey Graham

why some folks cannot brook any critique is astounding

As my father, the 'Good Reverend', used to say about women who can or cannot be trusted to stay the course..."If she'll cheat with you, she'll cheat on you."

Of course it's valid for the male of the species too.

Ensuring your company is not violating a law by trading in Iran should be pretty important.

Of course, she loves the sound of the muslim prayers...sound familiar???

The bottom line is those that can’t conceive that Palin can actually do wrong are no better than those that shut their ears and eyes to Obama’s antics.

This whole thing is really scary to me because it shows what can happen when the Antichrist appears.

No, I don’t think Palin is the Antichrist.

But if Obama is the precursor to the Antichrist, and the Antichrist comes to people to appear to save the day, shouldn’t people be willing to question choices and words instead of blindly following...

Is she backing Carly because she claims to be a Republican and is a woman? This is a bad choice. She could have actually helped Devore. Why didn’t she? Devore is better than Carly.

I NEVER supported Scientology, I just didn’t support your personal vendetta against Travolta while he was mourning his son’s death... and you know that.

No way. I remember your posts. By the way, It wasn’t a personal vendetta.

And guess what..I WAS RIGHT. The kid had autism. Remember your posts about THAT.

And yes, you refused to see what a horrible situation people get themselves into with that group.

Go look at the photos of the dead Lisa Mcpherson again before you start defending that group AGAIN.

my same questions

this open warfare here even against Palin supporters like me for having the audacity to criticize her if I disagree reflects more the personality of these types of posters than it does ideology.

it was the same in the Bush-McCain war here in 1998-99, same as the Amnesty bloodshed, same during the Giuliani exodus and now this with Palin.

Some freepers are only happy in an echo chamber where they may preen to their heart’s content and play kitties.
