You nailed it. It's disturbing to hear the FR Monday Quarterbacks, those claiming to know, those with 20/20 hindsight and especially those who've never been close to a drilling well, testing a well, etc. Those of us in the industry know full well the inherent danger with very heavy metal, high speed metal and moving parts, dangerous chemicals and potential ultra high pressure, volatile gas, casinghead gas, oil, etc.
I lost a brother-in-law years ago when the BOP crushed him on a well in NM. Knew some people on a crew in WY that had 4 killed from an H2S leak. We mourn the loss of life and try our best to fix the mistakes, but there ain't no getting around the danger. Anybody claiming a first class operating company does things on the cheap, knows not what they are talking about.

I agree. I do not know the industry but its overall safety record seems excellent. The safety record must be judged in the light of the dangerous conditions. I am grateful for the dedication and innovation of individuals who bring a vital product to market under dangerous conditions with incredible levels of regulations and taxation.
Sorry for your loss. Thanks for the report.
