Mexican authorities are investigating the deaths of four men whose bodies were found in two different locations in Matamoros.

Tamaulipas state officials reported the men's bodies were found early Sunday morning.

The bodies of two men were found off Calle 14 and Diagonal Cuahtemoc.

Officials later found two more bodies on Avenida Sexta Sur.

All four men had been shot to death.

The identities of those killed were not released but state authorities are investigating the case.

Emails rumors have been circulating that this weekend would be the "bloodiest in Mexico's history".

The emails were even the subject of a bulletin issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety to local law enforcement agencies.

The bulletin was leaked to the media on the public earlier this week.

Tamaulipas state officials reported no incidents Friday or Saturday.

Action 4 News will post more information as it becomes available.

Isn’t this taking the “day without mexicans” notion too far?
