“Yeah, I know. But the online database is troubling to me.”

In a total collapse I won’t be located at the address FCC has on file. Making preparations for even EMP events. ;-)

You need to think out of the box. Does your city have system of walking biking trails? If so think about getting a mountain bike. You can load a good amount of equipment, get around areas of auto traffic blockage, even hide if you have to by move into foliage or a building bike and all. Of course you need somewhere outside the city to go to

Thank you. I have been trying to store up on certain food items and supplies in case of whatever might happen, but according to this article and your statements, I would have to leave most of what I have squirreled away and flee. It is very distressing.

But if they can’t be seen as the hero, they’d rather we not get out at all.

There's your mistake - you think everyone perceives "heroism" the way you do.

Why do you think The Won refused to give up his Blackberry?

Because he's an empty shirt, he knows he's an empty shirt, and he depends on that Blackberry to get his directions from his masters.

His masters are barbarians of the darkest stripe, intent on destroying freedom, Western Civilization and the United States. The Won is their willing, enthusiastic errand boy.

By driving the United States into economic collapse, he will be a hero to those manipulating his strings.

That is why he does what he does; remember that and it all makes perfect sense.

"I would have to leave most of what I have squirreled away and flee. It is very distressing. "

My (rural) neighborhood group does not plan on moving but we do have things (mostly the food and medicines) packed such that they can be moved (a short distance) easily if necessary.
We had originally planned to 'head for the hills' but decided that any major travelling with our supplies would invite ambushes, etc. and we'd find ourselves in unfamiliar territory too.
We'll stay and fight if necessary.

If you know where you are going you can store them there ahead of time. If you don’t know where you would be going, DO NOT GO! Instead find like minded people where you are and make plans to share and defend one another at some local location.

There are really only two things to worry about. One, food shortages. Two, power outages. A hundred bucks can buy 3 months of canned food for one person. So for a few hundred bucks you could be well stocked for food. A rain barrel for 30 bucks could keep you in drinking water if you live in a wet climate. So a little prep will keep you and like minded friends alive should food or water be a problem. Your biggest worry will be defending your stuff. Hopefully you and your friends-neighbors can figure out a plan on how to do that. You will need at least 10-12 people all willing to work together. Every one should have a hand gun and a rifle or shot gun. Plenty of ammo would be nice too. 50 runs min for hand gun, 250 rounds min for long gun. With all that your chances are good against local criminals should worst come to worst. However you won’t stand a chance against anyone with grenades or RPG’s. Keeping a low profile is a must.

I am keeping all this info close. The one thing I do not have is a gun and don't know anyone that does. I think I will investigate applying for a license and take some lessons at the shooting range. To know you have control of your own destiny makes things seem less helpless.

Having a pre-arranged site of refuge with all the necessary supplies in place is the best plan...that plan ought to provide you with a foolproof method for getting to this site when TSHTF. You will not be able to travel at your leisure, etc.

I didn’t think it would be the very same week you posted this thread that the whole thing started to unravel.

Things are really heating up.

Costco has 5gallon pales with dehydrated servings (250 per).

These are preparations made with lintels, rice and so forth.

Go down to your local supermarket and buy canned hams, canned chicken, canned tuna and the like.

25lb bags of rice, beans go along way if rationed for a family.

Ammo, ammo, more ammo. For hunting wildlife of course.

Stupid. You will die surrounded by boxes of ammo.

I'm not overdoing the ammo. I figure that by the time I have to put a round through a fellow human, there won't be much time left to use the rest of the ammo. It will be anarchy or a fascist crackdown. My ammo is tilted in the direction of food acquisition via hunting 4 legged critters.
