Arlen Specter: How did that Obama endorsement work out for you?
IsraPundit ^ | 5/19/10 | Bill Levinson

Pretty much the same way it worked for Martha Coakley. Now we hope Obama will endorse proven liar Joe Sestak.

Another Obama minion bit the dust in yesterday's election. Arlen Specter, who has represented Pennsylvania in the U.S. Senate for almost 30 years was just removed despite endorsements from Barack Obama (Arlen should have asked Martha Coakley how that worked out for her) and Robert Casey. It is to be remembered that Senator Casey accepted the endorsement of an anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic hate group.

It is with a sense of sadness as opposed to triumph that we see Arlen Specter go. He was a good Senator, and he had our vote in 1998 and 2004 (twice in 2004, as we voted for him over Pat Toomey in the primary). Had he remained in the Republican Party, he would have had our vote yesterday. He instead chose to become not merely a Democrat (we know some very capable Democrats) but an Obama Democrat, which meant he needed to be retired either now or in November. At this point, we encourage our readers to do everything possible to help Pat Toomey defeat Joe Sestak in November.

Sestak, a retired admiral, apparently forgot Annapolis' honor code ("Midshipmen are persons of integrity. They do not lie, cheat, or steal") when he became a member of Congress, as shown by the dishonest advertisement he ran against Senator Specter. The bottom line is that Sestak is now a proven liar, and this should be used against him at every opportunity.

I called Specter's campaign the day before the election and told them that Toomey had my vote this Fall because of Specter's support for ObamaCare and cap and trade.

Specter overstayed his welcome by about 2 terms.

Lets see ...

Gov. Jon Corzine’s re-election bid in New Jersey,

Creigh Deeds’ run for governor in Virginia,

Martha Coakley’s campaign in Massachusetts,

and now Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania.

maybe I missed a few but me thinks the Prez DOESN’T have the winning touch!

Who is next? Ah, Sen. Blanche Lincoln in Arkansas?

How does it work with Rep. Sestak in Pennsylvania? Was that reverse roundhouse or a slider? Hows that work Mr Prez?

Funny, I’m not sad.

Anyway, it’s a strange thing that happens when a Congress person or a Senator is continually reelected, they tend to think it’s all about them, versus the voters - their positions or issues, their priorities. This happened to Specter, big time and at the end, he looked like a fool.

A reader's comment in the Denver comPost

All in all, it was a great night for Democrats. The voters of PA will have the opportunity to elect a US Navy Admiral to the US Senate. Rep. Murtha's seat stays Democratic. The Pubbies in Kentucky selected an ultra far right wacko, Rand Paul, to run for the Senate, despite all the work of McConnell and Karl Rove who campaigned for his opponent. There isn't enough wallpaper in the state to paper over that split. Yes indeed, it is a great time to be a Democrat.

These people are delusional.

How does it work with Rep. Sestak in Pennsylvania?

It's Two-Fer. We got rid of Specter, and now we'll get rid of Sestak!............

It’s funny I thought I read where the white House tried to get rid of him by offering him an Administration job. That ‘back-fired’ and now he is in the race for November.

Makes me wonder if the WH or the Dem Party thinks they can control him.

Listened to Neal Boortz today and a caller said (2nd hand info) that Sestak was in favor of the FairTax. Guess that too (if true) would draw the ire of the Party honchos.

As I said in another thread, most politicians do develop a contempt for the people who voted for them, only they try to hide it. Specter’s contempt became blatantly obvious, especially in the last few years, and that was probably one of many reasons why the voters abandoned him.

“It is with a sense of sadness as opposed to triumph that we see Arlen Specter go.”

????????????

I am GLAD the serial political career criminal is finished. I hope others follow. Aside from his duplicitous politics, he made a career of sucking off the public for far too long. Too old, too liberal, too duplicitous and in office for far too long.

He was a disingenuous, nasty, vicious, sexist charlatan and he masqueraded as a Republican for far too long.

Like he’s old and tired.

Ironically, Specter did provide some insight into how detached a long-term incumbent becomes from the voters. The simply fact that he changed parties and voted for health care - and expected to be reelected by the his new democrap party is really a stretch and only about him, not the voters.

I’m thinking that the long timers should go sooner, perhaps when the current election cycle appears to be their last - don’t reelect them from either party - in the case of a Senator the last 7 years can be unbearable for the voters.
