WASHINGTON – Ditching its past cautious tone, the nation's top scientists urged the government Wednesday to take drastic action to raise the cost of using coal and oil to slow global warming.
The National Academy of Sciences specifically called for a carbon tax on fossil fuels or a cap-and-trade system for curbing greenhouse gas emissions, calling global warming an urgent threat.
The academy, which advises the government on scientific matters, said the nation needs to cut the pollution that causes global warming by about 57 percent to 83 percent by 2050. That's close to President Barack Obama's goal.
"We really need to get started right away. It's not opinion, it's what the science tells you," said Robert Fri, who chaired one of the three panels producing separate climate reports.

#1 - who gave these quacks the title of “top scientists”? By what criteria? That they toe the Marxist line?
#2 - Yeah - what our blooming economy needs right now - dramatically HIGHER energy prices. Yeah - that will encourage a recovery (lest we forget that part of the economic fall had little to nothing to do with banks or mortgages - it was high energy prices...)

No actual physical scientists or engineers that I know of. I am a scientist and all this global warming stuff is hooey; nothing more than a socialist scheme to get us all to part with the contents of our wallets.
If the people who bring you the oil raise their prices, thats corporate greed and thats bad.
If people who don’t bring you the oil raise the price, thats good.

The second word is backwards. That should read “US Pot Scientists”...
Why scientists should NOT be politicians.
It has not been demostrated, either theoretically or empirically, that an increase in atmospheric CO2 content of the magnitude said to have occurred could cause in increase in the temperature of the earth’s gaseous envelope. Why are we unable to make this known to the federal bureaucracy and DimRat in the Congress? Because it doesn’t support their Control and Tax the People agenda.
It could be that they were tops in grant money received from the government to "study" climate change. As long as they keep finding change, they can keep receiving grant money.
And these people really consider themselves to be scientists? Obviously, they are completely ignorant of the fact that the sun causes 100% of all global warming.
This is exactly the kind of groundwork that needs to be laid for the EPA and the Regime to invoke Cap and Trade by Executive Fiat. This will never be approved by the Congress, so why ask??
