Come to Kentucky, Rand Paul tells Obama (Paul taunts Obama; he may endorse J.D. over McCain)

(CNN) – Fresh off his win in Kentucky's Republican Senate primary, Dr. Rand Paul is welcoming the attention from national Democrats that his insurgent, Tea Party-backed candidacy is generating.

Tim Kaine, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, took a shot at Paul during a press conference in Washington Wednesday.

Kaine said Paul "represents the most extreme elements of the Republican Party - a candidate who has vowed to abolish the Departments of Education and the Federal Reserve; who vows to oppose, oppose, oppose at a time when we need constructive solutions to the challenges we face."

Asked about Kaine's comments in an interview set to air on CNN's John King, USA, Paul told Democrats to "bring it on."

And Paul, the son of former Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul, also weighed in Arizona's upcoming Republican Senate primary. In that race, Sen. John McCain, the GOP's recent standard bearer, is locked in a tough contest with former Rep. J. D. Hayworth, who is also enjoying support from the Tea Party movement.

Asked whether he has a preference in the McCain-Hayworth race, Paul left the door open to backing Hayworth in his effort to unseat McCain.

"I haven't looked at it closely enough to know yet, but I do know that I have some similarities with former Congressman Hayworth and we will look at the race," Paul told King.

I hope Rand is not back-pedaling already, and that he backs the other tea party candidate-J.D. Hayworth.

He can with this one:

In Delaware on Sept 14, Christine O'Donnell is taking on the most liberal Republican Congressmen, Mike Castle, for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, Biden's old seat. Castle has been a professional politician since before Christine was born. Most recently, as a congressmen he supported cap & tax, the bailouts and the government takeover of industry. Now he wants a senate seat.

Christine

I’ve never said that.
But I am fairly libertarian.

Ron Paul’s biggest fault is his supporters.
They’re the loons.

He also had the misfortune of having Iraq, oddly enough, the central focus of the GOP primary. His foreign policy positions are regrettable. However, I think most people now see the value in his anti-government agenda.

I haven't found anything of any significance that Rand Paul disagrees with his father on.

I wouldn’t call it an anti-government agenda, rather a Pro-Constitution agenda [I disagreed with Paul’s adopting of the liberal anti-war “platform & tactics”.]

Frankly, it’s about time people started waking up to the realities. Both the GOP and the Dems have sung lullabies to the public for years now... I hope people are finally waking up.

As for Rand Paul, I am not all that comfortable with the whole “Tea Party Platform” idea, or organizing with him as the “leader” of this movement. ALL of these “Tea Party Candidates” — who decides who the “tea party” backs? Who will decide what should be on the platform? There is no way this stays a true grassroots movement AND becomes organized in such a way...
