If the feds refuse to do their job, a solution for Arizona would be to erect some Joe Arpaio style tent jails near the border. All illegals detained in the State would be sent there for “detailed biometric information” processing.

This would include a comprehensive DNA test, not just the much simpler 14 point data set DNA test typically used by the police. This could take many weeks to process, which would be done consecutively, not concurrently, with their serving their sentence for trespassing.

However, after typical processing, if they agreed to *voluntarily* cross back over the border, they would be returned to Mexico, so there would be no possibility of the federal “catch and release” program leaving them to run free in the US.

This would also mean that if they tried to come back to the US again, they would be looking at yet another week of trudging across the Sonora desert, after paying another big bribe to a coyote, and with no guarantee of making it back.

I can almost guarantee that the feds would scream bloody murder about this, because *most* captured Mexicans would choose to go back to Mexico, instead of sweltering in a tent for weeks or months.

I was thinking the exact same thing —Arpaio tent camps, complete with pink jumpsuits, baloney sandwiches and water for every meal, and chain gang hard labor every day from dawn to dusk. No TV, no workshops, no library, no gym.

If the Feds won’t process them and deport them, it would be cheaper for the AZ budget to keep them in that kind of detention forever than it would to police them and the street crime they cause.
