NY Times: Obama Outlines National Security Strategy
NY Times ^ | May 22, 2010 | By PETER BAKER

WEST POINT, N.Y. – President Obama outlined a new national security strategy rooted in diplomatic engagement and international alliances on Saturday as he repudiated his predecessor’s emphasis on unilateral American power and the right to wage preemptive war.

Eight years after President George W. Bush came to the United States Military Academy to set a new course for American security in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks, Mr. Obama used the same setting to offer a revised doctrine, one that vowed no retreat against American enemies while seeking “national renewal and global leadership.”

“Yes, we are clear-eyed about the shortfalls of our international system,” the president told graduating cadets. “But America has not succeeded by stepping outside the currents of international cooperation."

The contrasts between Mr. Bush’s address here in 2002 and Mr. Obama’s in 2010 underscored all the ways a wartime America has changed and all the ways it has not.

When Mr. Bush addressed their predecessors, he had succeeded in toppling the Taliban government in Afghanistan and victory of sorts appeared at hand, even as he was turning his attention to a new front in Iraq. Forecasting a new generation of threats, Mr. Bush vowed not to stand by as they gathered. “If we wait for threats to fully materialize,” he said then, “we will have waited too long.”

As Mr. Obama took the stage on a mild, overcast day, the American war in Iraq was finally beginning to wind down as combat forces prepare to withdraw by August, but Afghanistan has flared out of control and tens of thousands of reinforcements are flowing into the theater. Terrorists have made a fresh effort to strike on American soil as a new president tries to reformulate the nation’s approach to countering them.

President Obama outlined a new national security strategy:

"We will rely on the fact that the man caused disaster devices will fail to detonate."

I think this Administration is just what America has needed. After seeing what a disaster they have created, I hope (pray) most of us will shun them from now on. Now the minorities and the move-on crowd will stick by them as they have no skin in the game but most of us are just shocked. Remember, Reagan turned it around pretty quickly. We need to open our wallets and get out to vote. Everyone does things differently but I am giving money to candidates who believe in my values. I am not giving money to the RNC etc as they have different values than I have. I have found, for the most part the Tea Parties are pretty good at picking folks I agree with.

Barack Obama: “Here’s my strategy on national security They win, we lose.”

And he did this between the links and the basketball court, before he went home to change for the next WH extravaganza. What a CIC!

The Obama National Security Strategy:

Hope that the terrorists continue to be incompetent at making bombs in cars and in their underwear. (And never mention Fort Hood, where 13 people were killed by a terrorist on American soil just recently).

Obama Outlining His National Security Agenda:

1. We will not enforce our borders.

2. We will not allow states to enforce their borders.

3. We regard our own states who attempt to do so in much worse favor than the countries that encourage their citizens to break US immigration law and illegally cross our borders.

3a. We are too busy to process any illegals a state might discover and turn over to us. It is totally up to our (feds/ICE) discretion whether we deport illegals or not, we can choose if we will follow US law or not.

4. We believe that good fences do not make good neighbors. All good fences will do is keep more illegals out, and we don’t want that.

5. We will do nothing to stop the drug cartels from bringing their turf wars into the southwestern US.

6. We don’t care about our own US citizens being gunned down by illegals and drug gangs on their own properties, or killed in drunk driving accidents by illegals, or raped and/or murdered by illegals, as most of them are white folks and as such, have no special political use by my administration.

6a. We will bring the mexican president here to rip on a sovereign state in America that is trying to clamp down on illegals in their state causing all sorts of problems, and have him slam their immigration law that simply mirrors the federal law, yet not point out that his own country has far, far more stricter immigration laws and that they brutally enforce them on illegals that sneak into Mexico. “We deport them” the mexican president admits.

7. If we turn away from the borders, we will not see the thousands of OTM (other than mexicans) from middle eastern countries sneaking in to the country that are hoping to pull off more terrorist attacks and cause chaos in the country.

8. We are not, and never have been, at war with Islam. Islam is a religion of peace. I am more worried about bitter clingers and their guns and their bibles.

9. If something bad happens, everyone but me will be blamed for it. Cannot blame our universally-beloved first black president, who’s played more golf in 18 months than Bush had in 8 years.

10. All the muslims that have been found to be the ones behind the recent attacks and attempts, that members of the sock-puppet press were praying not to be muslims, is just coincidence. We cannot use any common sense racial profiling in looking for potential targets. You are safer if we search old people and their walkers, baby formula bottles, your contact lens solution bottles, and everyone equally - and perhaps having you miss your flight, than targeting the obvious middle eastern demographic folks with more scrutiny.

11. Don’t forget, I grew up in a muslim country, and to me, nothing sounds better than the shrieking call to prayer every morning.

Did he? What I caught sounded like a generic speech and the article doesn’t go into any of the details of the strategy.

BTW, the article mentions Bush the same number of times it does Obama.

“What a heartwarming speech. NOT.”

Well it all depends which side you’re on - I’m sure for the islamists, iranians, chavezes, chinese, russians it warmed the cockles of their hearts.
