Legislators override health care veto
Wednesday, May 19, 2010 1:10 PM CDT
State House of Representatives

OKLAHOMA CITY - Legislation that would challenge the federalized health care system has been revived after the Oklahoma House of Representatives overrode Gov. Brad Henry’s veto Tuesday.

“Lawmakers intend to pass this legislation with or without the governor’s support,” state Rep. Mike Ritze said. “It has been disappointing to see both the attorney general and governor once again at odds with the will of Oklahomans, but they do not have the final say.”

House Joint Resolution 1054, by Ritze, state Sen. Randy Brogdon, and state Rep. Mike Reynolds, amends Oklahoma law to allow citizens to opt-out of the new federal system and retain their current coverage. Another provision will allow the Legislature to file a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the health care mandates.

Reynolds said the federal legislation is ripe for challenge.

“Congress made a very bold transgression in mandating that individuals purchase health insurance,” said Reynolds. “The citizens of Oklahoma want the choice of paying for health care without having to carry federally mandated insurance policies.”

House Joint Resolution 1054 would protect any person, employer or health care provider in Oklahoma from being compelled to participate in any health care system. It also prevents Oklahomans from being financially penalized if they choose not to purchase insurance mandated by the federal health care plan, and doctors would still be allowed to accept direct payment without fear of financial penalty.

Agree.

Another bill Texas needs, an OK style Healthcare Bill. Our AG is suing, however a bill like this would be excellent. Wonder if Gov. Goodhair would support it!

Add this to the ‘Wish list’ which includes a AZ style ‘Immigration Bill’.

“.the attorney general and governor once again at odds with the will of Oklahomans”

They sound like birds of a feather with Obama, Pelosi and Reid in being completely oblivious (or indifferent) to the expressly stated will of the people. Of course, that’s why we have periodic elections in the first place—in recognition that the people every so often goof and need a chance to fix their own mistakes. I believe a big “correction” is headed towards Capitol Hill on 2010 and towards the WH two years later.

This is the Oklahoma house. Does it need an override in the Oklahoma senate as well?

Citizens can get involved by joining the Obamacare Class Action lawsuit:

Obamacare Class Action Lawsuit (deadline to join is May 31)

"The purpose of this lawsuit is to reverse Supreme Court precedent related to the Commerce clause and thereby overturn Obamacare. The Supreme Court has historically erred in its interpretation of the Constitutional role of the Federal Government. Recent Supreme Court rulings hint that they may be willing to take another look at Commerce clause precedent. Obamacare is so over reaching and so onerous, that it must either be repealed in Congress or struck down in the courts. We must fight this on both fronts. This is our historic opportunity to reverse America’s trend toward Socialism by overturning this unconstitutional precedent.

If you are a US citizen and agree with the goal of this lawsuit, please join us. If you have concerns about joining, please review the FAQs for more information. Every person we add strengthens the voice of "We the People".

The liberals and RINO’s don’t even recognize the tea party revolt. All they can do is trash the voters that will have their say in November.

A multilayer defense of state law coupled with an offensive Federal Court law suit is the way to go.
