Chely Wright: 'I wronged Brad Paisley '

Gay country star Chely Wright struggled to recount her romance with Brad Paisley in her memoir "Like Me," because she felt so terrible about making the singer think she loved him.

Wright dated Paisley in 2000 and called off the romance when the "Celebrity" hit maker started to get serious and talk about marriage.

But, rather than sit down with her one-time beau and tell him the truth, Wright simply cut the heartbroken star out of her life.

In her book she recalls taking a long bath with the music blaring from her sound system so she couldn't hear Paisley outside her home begging her to take him back.

Paisley has yet to comment on his ex-girlfriend's recent big reveal and the fact she wrote about their twisted romance in her book -- and Wright knows he must be very upset.

In a candid TV interview with Oprah Winfrey, which aired Wednesday, the "Single White Female" singer said, "Not only do I have a lot of regret for how that (romance) ended, I have a lot of regret for how that began. ... I had no business being in a relationship with him. I knew it the whole time.

In her recently-released memoir, Like Me, country singer Chely Wright comes out — and takes a harsh stand against old colleague John Rich (of Big & Rich). The two performed together in a long-ago Opryland show, and, according to Wright, it was a comment from Rich about sexuality that pushed her over the edge. As she told Access Hollywood, “[John] said, ‘You’re not gay are you?!’ I said, ‘No, John, I’m not.’ He said, ‘Good, thank God.’ And that began a spiral for me. I had a meltdown shortly after that.”

Now, Access Hollywood has posted the following statement from Rich on their website: “I would never pass judgment on any friend of mine. I feel awful that, at this time in Chely’s life, my decade old comment — ‘Good, thank God’ — was taken the wrong way. I was clumsily trying to express my relief that even a country boy like me had a one-in-a-million chance of having a beer with a woman as talented and attractive as Chely. For years after that conversation, Chely invited me to perform at charity events. In all that time, I wish she would have said something directly to me before the book’s publicity tour, especially since some of the comments attributed to me in the book are not mine. But I am happy for her and only wish her the best in her personal and professional life.”

Chely Wright, Bumper of My S.U.V. song...

******

Chely Wright Felt She Was in ‘Cultural Jeopardy’ if She Said She Was Gay

The singer tells Fox411.com that she felt she wasn’t “allowed to be gay in Nashville.”

Country singer Chely Wright said she never thought she would be the first gay country music singer to come out of the closet.

“I just was certain I wouldn’t be the one,” she said in a taped interview with Fox411.com (WATCH VIDEO). “Somebody would be the first, and it would be neat if I were the fifth or the fourth or the third. And believe me I would loved to been able to just Twitter this information and say yup – I too am gay.”

So what kept her from coming out sooner? Wright, 39, said it was her belief that “you’re not allowed to be gay in Nashville.”

“I did know that I was in social jeopardy and cultural jeopardy, and that this was something I had to hide if I wanted to achieve my career dreams of being on the Grand Ole Opry stage,” she told Fox411.com. “As far as I knew, there had never been a man or a woman ... that made country music who had acknowledged his or her homosexuality.”

Yeah, except for that homosexual deviant thing. And instead of keeping her life private, she gets to influence countless confused teenage girls who now have another example of an adult making it appear more normal to chose that lifestyle. Yeah, she is still realy great.

If she really feels she wronged Paisley, why is she making him look like a fool in her book? It probably raises her stock with the lesbo set to have a man begging outside her door.

Well, she’s right. She probably just sunk her career. Country music fans won’t be very supportive of the ‘gay thing’. Brad Paisley is a favorite among Country music fans too so hurting him was a very bad career move.

1 Corinthians 6:2-3

Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

"Not only do I have a lot of regret for how that (romance) ended, I have a lot of regret for how that began"

LOL - it takes an enormous amount of insensitivity and self-absorption to embarrass a guy for the second time by proclaiming to the entire world how sorry you are that you embarrassed him the first time. This woman is a real piece of work.

I lose interest real quick when a celebrity is compelled to share where he/she puts her mouth to the public. I won’t be buying anything from her.

None of the younger country music set have music that appeals to me, I like the old country stars who really sang country music. I dont think I ever ehard any of her music and will now make it a point not to hear it.

Why cant these homo’s keep their sickness to themsleves.

Yeah I know , call me a homophobe, I dont give a damn. People should not put their perversities out on the public.
