This month, three members of Congress have been beaten in their bids for re-election -- a Republican senator from Utah, a Democratic congressman from West Virginia and a Republican-turned-Democrat senator from Pennsylvania. Their records and their curricula vitae are different. But they all have one thing in common: They are members of an appropriations committee.
Like most appropriators, they have based much of their careers on bringing money to their states and districts. There is an old saying on Capitol Hill that there are three parties -- Democrats, Republicans and appropriators. One reason that it has been hard to hold down government spending is that appropriators of both parties have an institutional and political interest in spending.

As a big bonus, Charles Djou is an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve who isn't fabricating stories or hallucinating about having 'occasionally' served heroically in wars overseas, as Democrats are wont to do these days. MSM: We hate to interrupt your honeymoon, Mr. Djou, but do you support the Civil Rights Act of 1964?????
Democrats are crowing that they lost with 58 percent of the vote, and that either one of their two high-profile losers could've won against Djou if only it had been a two-way contest. But the flip side is it took two Democrat heavies to cough up 58 percent in a district that Obama, to repeat, carried with 70%-28% of the vote and where Obama's Organizing for America group of nuts worked to defeat Djou.
Incidentally, there were five Republicans and five Democrats on the same ballot in this race the media keep lying about in claiming that only the Democrat vote was split. (And we all remember the 'fair and balanced' media explaining how a Democrat won in NY-23 because the anti-Democrat vote was split.)
The special election win in Hawaii reverses the GOP's 'devastating,' 'demolishing,' 'disastrous,' 'wiped-off-the-map' "loss" of earmarked PA-12, which wasn't a "loss" since (a) John Murtha wasn't a "Republican" and (b) the majority of voters in this district flunk a basic IQ test with each election, which means no Republican has a snowball's chance in hell of ever winning this "bellwether" "swing" district that hasn't bellwethered or swung at the Congressional level in decades.
Obama's historic achievement of electing a Republican in his hometown speaks to the progress America is making in waking up. May Obama make history again in November by electing a Republican majority!

The win in PA12 would be similar to having two pro baseball teams on the field against one other team at bat. The team at bat gets the traditional strikes and balls. When the combined teams go to bat, they get 6 strikes and 8 balls. They win the game, and brag about their tough contest.
If the Republicans would come out with a strong platform (nationalize the elections a la 1994) to cut spending and debt and tackle other problems near and dear to the voters heart I foresee a major change in Congress.
However, they can choose to do like the Tories in the UK and play “go along to get along” and end us sharing power with a second rate, third party!
There was a failure on the part of the republicans to realize that the Specter/Sestak race was going to increase voter turnout.
Not only that but union operatives flooded the district getting people out to vote since it was the only district with an election.
The situation may be different in November as the union thugs will be ‘getting out the vote’ in every district and not all available to flood PA 12.
That said, Pennsylvania is the home of voter fraud like no other state. And that says a lot.

A very good 2 cents!
There are democrats and independents who actually do work and pay taxes too. They voted for Obama and other dems who are spending us into oblivion. Even they know there is a limit to what can be taken out of their paycheck and pee’d away by government on social programs. They are the ones that will turn the tide and vote the other way in 2010. Many of those living off the ones who pay don’t vote. At least that’s my hope.

Speak to a Democrat or an Independent about not voting Democrat and their eyes glaze over.
The psychological well-being of Democrats and Independents depends on Progressives being in power. When Progressives win, they remain brilliant intellectual, superior humans. When Republicans win they feel less “brilliant” and are compelled to call the entire population knuckle-dragging dolts.
Predicting a 2010 win for conservatives is wishful thinking.

From the get go, the democrat election “workers” were giving out two ballots to each voter, making the excuse that they thought they should because of the special election.
If I could leave here, I would in a heart beat.
Well, I will be hopeful but yeah, not totally out of touch.
