Are You Ready For Some Global Cooling?
National Center For Policy Analysis ^ | May 24, 2010 | Staff

It's not exactly Copenhagen or Kyoto, but the 700 scientists attending the fourth International Conference on Climate Change, sponsored by the Heartland Institute, had some chilling news of their own, says Investor's Business Daily (IBD).

"Global warming is over -- at least for a few decades," Don Easterbrook, emeritus professor of geology at Western Washington University, told the gathering. "However, the bad news is that global cooling is even more harmful to humans than global warming, and a cause for greater concern."

According to Easterbrook:

Rather than global warming at a rate of about 1 (degree) Fahrenheit per decade, records of past natural cycles indicate there may be global cooling for the first few decades of the 21st century to about 2030. These natural cycles have been occurring since the discovery of fire and mankind's first carbon emissions, long before the invention of the wheel and the SUV. Easterbrook and the other scientists reported on sudden and natural climate fluctuations documented in the geologic record, all before 1945. Two big climate changes occurred in the past 15,000 years, and another 60 smaller changes in the last 5,000 years.

If I had a system that had been around for an estimated 4.0 Billion years, and I took a sample of ~150 years (~0.00000375%) and said that off this sample, I could predict the future - you’d say I was insane.

Yet, this is EXACTLY what these idiots are doing.

Quick! Drive, fly, burn, eat, and fart more. We need more man-made CO2!

In other words, the evidence is proving we were full of it where global warming is concerned, so we need to try something else to whip the public into a panic so we can get lots of grants and stuff.

Based on new analysis of ice cores from Greenland to Antarctica, global temperatures rose and fell from 9 to 15 degrees in a single century or less, a natural phenomenon Easterbrook called "astonishing."

Finally, the MSM saying it is a "natural" phenomenon! Waking up, ehh?

Seriously . . .

If you hang around long enough, the logic in the next alarmist period (Ice Age) will necessarily be that we must begin to consume vast quantities of fossil fuels and suspend all operations of the green persuasion.

Or is that going to be another truth stood on its head.

Meanwhile, in my back yard it’s 94 degrees at 3:15PM CDT.

I like the cooler summers and the warmer winters, and that’s what I want, and I want it now. Start fixing the research to make it happen.

All this cooling down and warming up. Obviously it's a conspiracy by Bush-Haliburton-Cheney to sell us more heating oil while at the same time driving up our air-conditioning bills. I mean, it's up to 80 degrees today where just a few months ago, I was shoveling snow! It's crazy!

Now that Obama is in office, I expect the temperature to be maintained at a constant 72 degrees. When can I expect this to occur?

“However, the bad news is that global cooling is even more harmful to humans than global warming, and a cause for greater concern.”

HOWEVER, the GREAT news (from my point of view, at any rate) is that global cooling is in NO WAY caused by humans. That means that all the fiscal and control grabs in the name of global warming are moot! Wooooohoooooo!

As an aside, you are now free to by the worst gas-guzzling SUV you desire. It will be a positive force in (very slightly) mitigating the global cooling crisis. :-)
