How about “I repent of my lying and beg for forgiveness. I have dishonored my uniform, my Corps and my fellow Marines in addition to my office and the people of Connecticut.”

That might do for starters. Then he could finish by resigning and withdrawing from public office.

Anything short of...

“I apologize from the bottom of my heart for lying about my military service and for stealing the valor of genuine Vietnam combat veterans. I did so strictly for selfish political expediency, to get myself elected, and this was a totally unacceptable lapse in judgment on my part. I therefore resign my position as Connecticut’s Attorney General and withdraw my candidacy for the US Senate, both effective immediately.”

...is not accepted.

I was listening to a VN Veteran, triple purple heart recipient in a wheel chair who had a few comments about this guy. It wasn’t about wanting an apology.

Isn’t it great that Dims love to keep their wounded candidates on the ballot? Let ‘em twist in the wind!
