The Mexican Navy is reporting four deaths and four arrests of men believed to be part of the feared drug trafficking ring Los Zetas.
The Mexican Navy reported its personnel were on a routine patrol this past Wednesday in the Town of Graciano Sanchez.
The western Tamaulipas town is located in the mountains near the City of San Carlos, about an hour north of Ciudad Victoria.
The Mexican Navy reported the patrol spotted a convoy of SUVs and trucks and become involved in a shootout with the drivers.
Four of the armed men were killed and the following four men were arrested:
Nestor Francisco "Mali" Merloz-Leyva, 20 Alfonso Abigald "Panza" Sis-Garcia, 20 Juan Estuardo-Cordoba, 33 Luis Arturo "Kaka" Cervantes-Lagunes, 20 The first three arrested suspects were identified Guatemalan nationals while the fourth is from the Mexican State of Veracruz.
The Mexican Navy reported that that all eight men were members of the Los Zetas drug trafficking organization.
Authorities seized the men's four SUVs and trucks as well as 14 AK-47 rfiles, ammunition and clips
Just from the headline I thought Mexico was killing members of a college fraternity.
Navy on patrol in a mountainous area? Did they lose their boat?
Those AK-47’s must have come from evil U.S. retail gun traffickers. /s
“Mexican Navy”?! That’s as funny as “Mexican Space Shuttle”1
I don’t care, as long as they get more than they lose.
Zetas comin’ up short this month?
Odd though, doncha think?
Yes, but we have Marines fighting in Iraq, so . . . .
How many were profiled for being Mexican?
How many were read their Miranda rights before they were killed.
The Navy’s stated mission is “to use the naval force of the federation for the exterior defense, and to help with internal order”.
You have the right to remain silent. BAM!
Obviously, these were from American Weapons dealers from along the border. I wonder if any were from Wal*Mart?
Do you remember the raid in Mexico city a few months ago by the Mexican Navy? Maybe, that is the only branch that isn’t completely infested with drug dealers.
Years ago the Mexican Navy had a training base near San Blas in Mexico. They were in a type of special forces training center. You would not have wanted to make fun of these guys, they were some serious sailors.
